I cannot stress how good the writing in Baby Steps is. I’ve described it as if you did Silent Hill characterization in a comedy. Really beautiful, largely improvised, magical realist narrative aimed directly at its audience.

I know I keep talking about it but I just finished Baby Steps. That ending got me choked up. Honestly my favourite game I've played in god knows how long. This feels like a real all-timer for me. Absolutely everything about it just feels so... perfect. I'm properly giddy about it all. ART, MAN

I'm excited for Limp Bizkit, but I'm a little worried about Antifa...
Question
I'm sick and tired of seeing these thugs terrorize big events and am worried that they will try to interrupt Limp Bizkit's set. My gf (F19) and I (M31) are going to our first Lollapalooza and are concerned about the growing threat around the city

My dad showed me some AI-colorized footage of Germany from the 20s. It turned all the cars purple and green and other bright colors... the specific shades you see hot rods painted in.

Watching the dominos arrange for subtle, seemingly innocuous shifts in history and perception. Eyes looking in different directions, a slightly different carpet color, etc. What troubles me is when it becomes indiscernible and later used for reference in other media. AI Mandela Effect inbound.

I thought something seemed off about the the image posted below: it's a photo that's been edited and colorized by AI. Please don't do that.

Most AI revenue is an obscfucated tacked on service (copilot for windows, grok for X, etc.) for a product that is already free, or would never sustain a $2400/yr subscription.
almondsquirrel.bsky.social
Notice how shockingly little of this money is coming from people paying for actual AI stuff. Optimistically OpenAI makes ~$10B and dominates the AI industry through their API fees and licensing. $10B of revenue a year is not enough to sustain a multitrillion dollar market on its own.

In september 2024 we added 254,000 jobs, in september 2025 was flat or reduced by ~20-30k jobs. And yet, inflation is -higher- while consumer spending is worse. Bad trend. Real bad.

I can just **feel** the conversation where Elon insisted the logo have only 2 face buttons instead of the default 4, "because it's like an NES controller, we're bringing video games back" in the same way the cybertruck copied the Deloean, despite the NES controller being /objectively terrible/.

Elon Musk announces xAI game studio will release a great AI-generated game before end of 2026.

Powered by Grok, the studio aims to revolutionize gaming with dynamic, photo-realistic experiences.

There seems to be a sort of collective delusion around Nvidia GPUs, treating them as special magic sauce that you have to pay $30,000 for, when anyone who has built a gaming PC in the last 20 years is like "Yeah fuck quadro/RTX cards they're the same thing but 4x expensive"
almondsquirrel.bsky.social
But the fact that anyone with $10,000 can run their own chatgpt at home right now and yet any generative AI feature is not worth the money it costs in electricity to pay off is pretty damning of the whole thing. Tech executives don't actually know that moat is dry.
