Apps got worse once buttons went from 'Things you can do' to 'Things we want you to do'*

(* okay this is a cute post but I'll admit there isn't a clear line here but there is definitely a PHILOSOPHY SHIFT over the years)

Hey folks, I'm gonna start a new recommendation thread, and because I very recently did a huge thread of 50 indie game recommendations, it might be a little shorter, and I'll be aiming for NO OVERLAPS! Are you ready?

1. Look Outside

I'll be brief. Just play this immediately, trust me.

If you're not trans, I don't think I can fully explain how important this is.

It's so powerful that one of the most circulated science media publications in the world has come out and said "trans children are real and providing transition care improves their lives." That's groundbreaking.
The name "Popular Science" doesn't mean we shift our coverage depending on public opinion. It means we cover relevant subjects that are rigorously researched, reliable, and grounded in reality.

And trans lives are grounded in reality.

We see y'all. No matter what.

First-of-a-kind study shows encouraging data for trans kids who socially transition
Ninety-four percent of participants in a new study stood firm in their trans identity after five years, and "detransitioning" is rare.

If you're looking for a way to help Palestinians in Gaza, here is one:
A simple ask: click “weekly” a coffee or whatever spare change that you find disappearing every once in a while. And today we'll MATCH (!!!) up to £450 / $600.

Across the two hundred people who've pledged around this, it's shelter, surgeries, food for six families. chuffed.org/project/hope...
Keep Hope Alive: a Gaza Giving Circle
We are a team of volunteers in the US and UK, led by two sisters passionate about helping our friends on the ground keep their families and neighbors alive with food, water, & shelter. We saw that…

At about $60K that's about 128 million graduate team indie games, at $150K about 500,000 small indie games, at $300K about 250,000 mid-size debut indie games, or at around $950K about 110,000 indie games by a team of more experienced devs.

There are a total of 110,000 indie games on Steam.

I think the continued rise of ai slop is a great opportunity to lower your standards a bit for human made indie games. Maybe try a game with a style you found cheap or off putting before. Remember that Vampire Survivors launched with pre-made assets, sprite edits and tracing.
