Kindness is Punk. When the world is awful, be kind.
This.

Two days ago, a friend kept asking, "Why did [cat] pee [on my things]?" "But why those things?"
My answer was, "She wanted my attention. She thought I was ignoring her, so she did what would guarantee my attention."
Cat had no way to know I was dealing with crisis, elsewhere.

The best Christmas Carol!
I could just go on and on; I'll spare you everything except joy in our mutual enjoyment of a fantastically made movie. I hope 4 year old enjoys it!

did you see this?
Academics and technologists are sounding the alarm about a growing crisis in scholarship as we know it: AI-generated citations of nonexistent papers that have infested real journals. Despite being fake, the sources are widely assumed to be authentic the more they appear in published literature.
AI Is Inventing Academic Papers That Don't Exist -- And They're Being Cited in Real Journals
Academic articles from authors using large language model are creating an ecosystem of fake research that threatens human knowledge itself.

Don't have dyslexia, still find it confusing wording. Too much time spent as a copy editor, I guess?

So, just maybe, the next time you see someone who isn't doing their own shopping, or who is in the Zoomy Hell Cart -- can you please just... I dunno, consider moving out of the way. Or minding your own business. Or... Being effing kind, even.

Revolutionary, I know.

We didn't ask to be like this.

As if I'd joyride around in the world's slowest, loudest, most uncomfortable shopping cart? No.

All this exciting shopping takes twice as long as it used to take me when I was able. With the added bonus of being utterly exhausted and unable to put anything away!

Yet, regularly, I get shit for it.

In short, the cart is shit to use. Worse, other shoppers treat you like you're there entirely to make their shopping experience miserable, & they treat you accordingly. It's awful.
To reach anything, I have to stand up, step away from the cart, and get glared at by people for "cheating". 7/?

BUT.
Let me explain what it's like when I can't do pickup at Store B, for reasons.

I have to use the zoomy cart. It's super, insanely SLOW. It's loud. It has a tiny cart attached. The battery life is poor & usually not fully charged. It can't maneuver well, and nobody moves out of the way. 6/?

Now, I'm angry that employees get shit pay for shopping pickup orders. It's unacceptable, IMHO, and companies freaking need to pay people for their work.
But I don't appreciate being mistreated because I don't look disabled enough. Or maybe I do, and just being disabled is offensive? 5/?

Why did I mention Store C if I don't shop there?

I used to shop there.

But the pickup employees regularly threw the groceries around, breaking things, spilling them, etc. They were rude and acted like I should be doing my own shopping, not doing pickup.
(Pickup pay rate is shit, FYI.) 4/?

Pickup, if you've never used it, has a time delay involved. Often, the soonest you can get groceries after ordering is ~24 hours. You show up at a set time and someone loads the bags in the car. It's lovely, really, and I have an immense appreciation for the folks who shop/load my groceries! 3/?

I get most groceries as pickup from reliable Store B. Doing pickup saves my energy for putting everything away.

But since I try to have good nutrition for the offspring, I buy fresh produce at pricey Store A. Even with the small size of shop/items, I'm often exhausted after putting away things.2/?
