Chicagoan Urbanist trying to improve the Salt Lake suburbs one bike lane or bus route at the time. Village of Addison and the CTA Purple Line's biggest critic.
While most of the partying is concentrated downtown, there is still plenty that happens around the metro area. Giving free rides home is only as good but there's no free rides if there's no service to begin with.

I actually found myself not only offering to give people rides home but also their cars bc despite making streets wide enough for street parking, Wheaton does not allow it to be done overnight making it completely useless.

The lack of any other transit service that late at night also led to everyone having to drive. I would have much preferred to have taken the 711 bus, even with all its diversions, but it would have barely gotten us to the party before ending service let alone getting back.

It also doesn't help that almost all of the bus routes they expected you to transfer to either had 60 plus minute headways or were peak service feeder routes.

The only reason I like the 290 route is more due to a lack of any routes heading south out of the NWTC than its actual addition. The I-88 route is extremely useless as the section to Lisle was cut with the Yorktown to Oakbrook section not even using I-88 anymore.

I wish this was an original idea but it was actually one that Pace dropped 15 years ago. Although their plans connected to no Metra stations focusing on connecting business parks more than actual transit hubs.

Even if we had our bikes with us, the "safe" route requires detouring 9 miles due to the lack of North-South bikeways making it still take 2 hours. It is also safe to say that the trails are covered in ice as both DuPage County and the municipalities DO NOT clear the paths of snow.

I am also still 22nd all time despite not living in the state for 6 months now and never living along the line for over 3 years, only using it to visit family and friends.

Yes we did make it in on time.

I feel like I've heard this one before

UP-N and UP-NW trains regularly race getting into OTC from Clybourn on weekday mornings.

But I definitely missed state supported rail service

The only reason we aren't taking the 7:15a train today is because the first MD-W doesn't get into Union Station until 7:12a, 2 minutes after doors close. Now I'm on high alert hoping nothing like this happens to our train.

Im still a proponent of bringing back the Halsted Brown Line Station, especially with nearby North/Clybourn not having any plans to make it ADA accessible.

20 miles taking the most direct route of I-190 to Mannheim to IL-19

If I actually wanted to take transit to get to my hometown, I'd have to wait until the morning for the 715 to starts up again and it would take 8 times as long to get there and still require me to walk a mile to get to my parents. But hey, at least it would only cost me $2.
