At the UTA board meeting I gave comment regarding the grants applied for and capital spending that is currently going to the SLCentral Station Improvements. It is a disservice to proceed with this plan ahead of the WEConnect Study, especially with other options, like @riograndeplan.bsky.social.
My friend groups New Year's Eve party was hosted in Wheaton and one of the attendees had to stay the night because they live in the city and were able to take Metra in but had no option to get home as ride share prices skyrocketed from $30 to $90 after the ball dropped.

Pace is out doing studies for Express Buses on the I-290 and I-88 Corridors that are largely redundant to service provided by both Metra and themselves. I'd much prefer if these resources went into a circumferential route along the I-355 corridor, especially with how much their plans cater to DuPage

I want to visit my grandma today in Downers Grove but am currently stuck in Addison with no access to a vehicle. If we wanted to take transit to get there it would take 2 hours to travel 12 miles, almost half of the trip waiting for a perfectly missed transfer.

The MD-W is such a high ridership line that riding it twice, once on Christmas morning and once on the late evening, was enough to make me the 62nd most helpful rider on the Transit App 3 days before the month ends with a whole 32 riders helped.

Currently on a 8 car Metra train that only has 3 cars open. I love that Metra's new coaches are delayed due to their need for a walk through cab car, not to actually use it to split trains easily, because if they aren't doing it now, they aren't going to do it then.

Even though it came all the way from Kansas City, our Lincoln Service train still arrived on time. Hopefully that remains the case when we go through the gauntlet after Joliet.

If we still lived in Evanston, we would have been completely screwed today as we'd be trying to take the 7:15a Lincoln Service to visit family in Central Illinois. The earliest the CTA could even get us to Union Station would have been 736a due the Purple Like not getting into Howard until 6:39a.

Flying into O'Hare tonight and taking transit to get to my parents' house is not only inconvenient, taking 3 times as long and still needing a pickup from the nearest Metra station but also cost prohibitive at $5 just to take the CTA out of O'Hare and $3.75 to take Metra from Franklin Park to Itasca

The city of Ogden, UT is officially working towards reactivating their historic Union Station to bring UTA FrontRunner and bus services closer to the heart of the city and get Amtrak to stop there once again.

A reminder as you are forced to pay $70 or more on top of your round trip or try and fit everything you need in a carry-on for a week or longer that those fees were instated by the airlines to counteract raising gas prices 20 years ago.

Metra could strategically place their cab cars in the middle of the consist so that they can easily cut the number of cars. A major reason the Alstom Coradia Bi-Levels are so delayed is to keep the "walk through cab [car] design" something no manufacturer makes anymore.

Each of those costs about $1k a piece because you know Trump can't turn down the gold leaf option. Assuming an average of 1.5 per president, that's $70K just thrown away for this publicity stunt, on top of the cost of all the picture frames just for the autopen bit.

It is also debatable whether the changes at Salt Lake Central will allow for the expansion of intercity rail service as the current auxiliary platform will still remain in in use and lack many of the amenities necessary to terminate and turnaround trains at the station.

The UTA snuck in a doozy of a grant application at the end of the year with another $121 Million to go towards Salt Lake Central. Including the $30.5 the UTA has to put in for this Grant, this puts the amount of requested funding towards SLCentral to $160 Million.
