I'm looking for a few amazing autistic people who enjoy putting together spreadsheets and compiling information. The subject matter is not a fun one (authoritarian Christian leaders who abuse children and are caught/prosecuted) but it is necessary! Lemme know if you think you can help me.

No, it's not only the US who will suffer from RFK Jr cancelling vaccine research.

1️⃣ You can't just instantly teleport research projects. Cancelling US projects slows global progress.

2️⃣ Preventing pandemics will always be a group project. The US is letting the team down & putting the world at risk.

Did you know that Alexander Graham Bell was a eugenicist dick who married one of his Deaf students? He’s what we call an audist—someone who discriminates against Deaf and hard of hearing people. He believed they should be forced to lip read and speak to integrate into hearing society.

ah yes, the feminist 90s, when no one made jokes at the expense of monica lewinsky for her sexual assault by bill clinton
Anyone talking about the 90s like it was a feminist haven free of a manosphere has clearly forgotten about what the 90s was actually like or never bothered to study it

One of the reasons Christian fascists/project 2025 have always wanted to target PBS is because it taught social and emotional intelligence to children. I'm not kidding! We wrote about how evangelical parenting experts have always hated Mr. Rogers here: strongwilled.substack.com/p/chapter-6-...

Local journalists are reporting that Israeli military just bombed the very church in Gaza that Pope Francis used to call every night, killing 2 Christians and injuring 6 more.

If you still actually believe this is "Muslim vs Jew" & not War Criminal vs Civilians, you're helping whitewash genocide.

For the record (since a survey just came out, stating 84% of ablebodied people don't know how to talk to disabled people), the correct way to address a disabled person is to say "hello. Nice weather we're having today, isn't it?"

It's not to start commenting on said person's disability

At the same time, it's equally frustrating that the general consensus is that disabled people are not human, that we cannot speak for ourselves or be spoken to, listened to or treated as if we are experts on ourselves - nor, for that matter, that we are perfectly capable of taking care of ourselves

It is a cultural, political, physiological, chemical, and biologic identity. That's why it can be visible or very invisible, fluctuating or constant

It's complex, and that specificity is not often very respected. Which is frustrating to say the least

One of the most frustrating things about being physically disabled is I have never seen an ablebodied person (who has not had to take care of a disabled parent) understand what it means to be physically disabled

Not one. There is just that little education on the topic

I saw someone on the internet today say they regularly have panic attacks before work & want to be treated fairly. In response, someone told them to “grow up.”

Somewhere along the line, we figured people shouldn’t share feelings because we think everyone should suffer like us & it’s extremely sad.
