What I mean is, there’s just no way “Love Takes Miles” is the best song of 2025. It’s a great song, I like it a lot. You could make a principled case that Heavy Metal is the best record of the year. But “Love Takes Miles” just does not have the dazzling quality of that accompanies the supreme song.

It’s also weird to have listened to enough new music this year to recognize several of these. Not so in previous annums
