There is a lot of talk about higher defense spending in NATO, but I think many politicians have failed to explain adequately why that is necessary. So in this video I explain what is at stake for citizens in Western European countries.
Why spend more on defense in Western Europe?

Hmm, I am not convinced they still have the assumption that the US is going to fight for NATO allies. When the Europeans start talking about how that may not be the case, then the Russians definitely have also thought about it.

Yep the recently developed "TACO version" of the Tomahawk cruise missile is particularly fearsome🤡😂

Quick guide to Tomahawk cruise missile variants

TLAM - land attack

TSAM - anti-ship

GLCM - ground launched

TACTOM - improved “tactical” version

TACO - version talked about but never delivered to Ukraine

You need to have stockpiles to get through the initial months until the production can be ramped up.

The number of European missiles and long-range drones should probably be counted in thousands, so we need to figure out our share of that.

Here’s a mugshot of an incompetent, drug addled narcissist. He insisted the charges against him were trumped up.

Hard agree. It's a paradox that in Denmark right now, there is a discussion about whether it would be an aggressive move to acquire long-range strike capabilities that can reach Russia. How do these people assume we will be fighting a war if we don't have weapons that can reach the enemy?

I subscribe to too many emails, but one of the few I actually read is Missile Matters. It’s suitably geeky, and provides a deeper understanding of missile warfare which is a topic you see discussed surprisingly often in news and social media these days 😅

This week’s conclusions are spot on.

⚡️ Slovakia sends first non-lethal defense aid package to Ukraine since Fico took office.

The package includes engineering and construction equipment, transportation, demining systems, and medical evacuation vehicles.

I don't. The damn thing about this war is that one cannot say anything without being blamed for either antisemitism or condoning genocide. But I think it's both factually and morally wrong to say that today is the anniversary of the genocide.

Ny analyse - EU's levestandard vokser meget hurtigere end USA's på trods af lavere vækst i BNP.

Hvordan hænger det sammen?

Chat Control will leave European enterprises naked. It will mean no secrecy at all in internal or external communication, IP. Palantir and thus US will be able to tap into everything, and soon China will too, as it get access through the backdoor. I don’t get why EU industry is silent on this one.

This desperately needs to be shot down. "Chat Control, first introduced in 2022, would require service providers, including end-to-end encrypted platforms like Signal, to scan all platform communications and files to screen for “abusive material” before a message is sent."

Today is actually the two year anniversary of Hamas' massacre on Israelis. I'm not defending Israel's actions afterwards (or before for that matter), but let's not diminish the significance of this particular day either.

Putin turns 73 on October 7. He was 46 when he first became Prime Minister in August 1999. Since that time he has been either Prime Minister or President for more than 26 years, more than 1/3 of his life. In 2004, he said "one could go crazy" working as president for 7 years.

True. The America First movement was strong, and many Americans were enthusiastically cheering for Hitler.

I think there were many conflicting views on the matter at the time, and multiple things were probably true at the same time – that there was an ideological sympathy with especially Britain's cause as well as a realization that there was no way to remain neutral after Pearl Harbor.

I don't think those things are fascist – just as Stalin's USSR wasn't fascist. Fascism is a particular form of political philosophy with traits such as a personality cult of the leader, fetishization of the military, hypernationalism, and a promise of a return to an imaginary past greatness.

I think it's fair to say that one side in WWII was fascist, and the other was not. You will always be able to point to hypocricy in politics, but the overall point that Trump stands for what the US was fighting against back then is important.

Mussolini was literally the founder of the fascist movement and invented the term. Eisenhower was in charge of the Allied invasion of Italy.

I think it would take a significant number of Flamingo missiles to take out the bridge. Therefore, that is probably not something they will attempt until they have a surplus of missiles. Also, I'm not sure it's the best missile for the task, because Flamingo is not known to be super precise.

Sounds like interesting times ahead in Czech politics. Especially if the president is serious about using his powers to obstruct the process.

Are the other parties that he will rely on as anti-Europe and anti-Ukraine as he is?

Exactly. And also, it's not like ANO came out of nowhere and got a third of the votes. They gained 7 percentage points since last election, which is a good result but not exactly a landslide.
