Did someone swap out our Toronto Maple Leafs for a team that can actually play? 😂

VX Underground's follow up post after making a giant thread where they implied Chinese APTs burned down an entire South Korean government datacenter to cover their tracks, which they substantiated with nothing more than "I just think the timing is weird". This is some QAnon level nonsense. 1/2

Been binge watching Arrow again, since i'm using Prime for their 1 month free trial. Just past the point of finding the identity of the Dark Archer now. I might need to pick up the pace of watching the episodes because i'm not OK with giving Bezos money.

It's only been what, a week now? Even us Canadians are already so bored of being called a terrorist.

If we’re drawing up a list of people who should be in jail…
Donald J. Trump • O @realDonald Trump
Chicago Mayor should be in jail for failing to protect Ice Officers!
Governor Pritzker also!

I see so much gaslighting of people who are struggling to find jobs at junior and mid-level cybersecurity by folks who got their last job or first job before 2023. It's unreal and uncalled for. The market and the automation in the hiring processes have gone to hell. www.reddit.com/r/SecurityCa...

I'm AuDHD and if I have more than 5-7 tabs open, i'll be too distracted and unable to focus.

It's chillier today (only 14 right now) and will be dipping down to 3 overnight. Apparently these temps and the winds today, aren't what wasps enjoy. It's nicer out in the backyard today without dozens of them flying around.

I'm actually kind of liking the new robes.

Tragic news from Canada where the Canadian Supreme Court has gone from the official dress on the left to the one on the right
Canadian Supreme court. Everyone is dressed in bright red wooly gowns, with a beige trim. It looks sort of like a Santa robe The Canadian Supreme court. Everyone is dressed in black gowns with a bright white kravat, and two thin red vertical lines on the side of the robe

After exfiltrating almost 1 BILLION records from ~40 organisations using Salesforce, hackers have set a deadline of this Friday for a ransom to be paid.

And, with less than 48 hours to go, Salesforce is refusing to pay up.

We encountered a unique variant of the ClickFix malware technique. The catch? The user is social engineered into running a PowerShell script which downloads no files, makes no web requests, and embeds no payload.

Regardless, it's still able to install a malicious loader.

Cache smuggling: When a picture isn’t a thousand words
We recently observed an innovative campaign using the ClickFix attack tactic for cache smuggling. Here's what you need to know.

See, the fact that some of them already KNOW about *this hack* is definitely evidence that they should learn the real world impact of it. I get it, schools run on really tight budgets. But if these kids don't learn the right way, they'll probably learn the wrong. 😞

We had part of our one school board and our public library attacked. In both cases it messed things up for months for average people. I think kids really need a better insight as to the harm they can cause.

I still need to squeeze that book into my reading stack. 😅

We had a computer in the home from like 1980 on, and at the time, they weren't really offering computer classes in school. That wasn't available until I was in high school a number of years later. But kids weren't thinking of using their comp knowledge for much fuckery.
caffeineislife.bsky.social
I'll also add that it's not surprising kids are getting into doing bad shit online with their knowledge. There's so many tools now to make things easy. If they're not taught what kind of harmful impact their stunts can have on average people, it'll inevitably happen.
caffeineislife.bsky.social
Now i'm curious what kind of questions you've gotten... 😂
caffeineislife.bsky.social
I don't think there necessarily needs to be an actual teacher of it in school. It could be like 1 week of guest speakers coming to talk to the kids about security and to give them the real life lowdown on hacking, both the good and bad acts of it and their consequences.

Even after all my years of covering cybersecurity, it still kind of blows my mind how young the kids behind these major attacks have become.

Plus the way it appears to be evolving into a homegrown issue - attacks by British people, rather than the 'traditional' faraway Russian perpetrators...
