Made far more sense and avoided an "everything you knew was a lie" retcon which I usually really dislike. (Apart from occasional exceptions like 'The Anatomy Lesson' in SWAMP THING and the New Universe's JUSTICE one.)

There was basically a rundown of all the unresolved subplots in one of his last issues and where they would have gone had he not been pushed off the book. By that point there was a pseudonym credited as writer I think.

Franklin had subconsciously pushed them together with his mutant powers because, as a child, he wanted all of his family to be happy while the Thing was on Battleworld. Something along those psychic manipulation lines.

It started to lose its way very quickly after the time-travel storyline but I think Englehart had to deal with some very heavy-handed editorial stuff there and, particularly, on FANTASTIC FOUR. On the latter his proposed solution to the Johnny/Alicia plot was infinitely better than the Skrull thing!

I heard the most heartbreaking comics-related story about Evri recently. Not my tale to tell but my contempt for them is particularly high right now.

Now apparently "out for delivery." I'll keep checking that bush in the street five houses down.

Really enjoyed that WEST COAST AVENGERS run at the time. Not sure whether it still holds up but I should revisit that at some point.

Ah Deathlok and the far future of the 1990s! I love Bronze Age Marvel. By far my favourite era.

THE FURY OF FIRESTORM #50 (1986) - Cliff Carmichael at his sociopathic worst. Always Firestorm’s greatest villain. Otherwise there’s an interesting return for a Golden Age hero but the unlikely story resolution doesn’t really work.
