Saying it again. You do *not* have to be the most accomplished artist in the world to make an excellent comic that speaks to people and communicates your truths.

My #BF6toWatch 2026 longlist has 15 people on it but just one actual name. All the other potentials are things akin to "Guy who did the fab elephant comic" or "Person with the really cool scarf at FestivalFest'.

When you get to my age these kind of descriptions mean much more than names...

Just had to buy a belt hole-puncher because post-Covid in the late summer my belts no longer hold up my trousers! I knew it did a number on me (obviously) but photos from Thought Bubble have really shocked me. I look dreadful - gaunt and haggard. Like I've aged 10 years since TB 2024.

Just sent out another @brokenfrontier.bsky.social 'Six to Watch' 2026 invitation tonight. It's going to be an incredibly strong year. Just like its eleven predecessors.

For obvious mobility reasons I was trying to avoid bringing back big heavy items from Thought Bubble this year but I now own the Sterte book and it is indeed a thing of beauty. Also can't quite believe how quickly it arrived from Peow. You need to own it too.

THE FURY OF FIRESTORM #50 (1986) - Cliff Carmichael at his sociopathic worst. Always Firestorm’s greatest villain. Otherwise there’s an interesting return for a Golden Age hero but the unlikely story resolution doesn’t really work.

I imagine if you stand in front of a mirror and say their name three times a smashed up parcel eerily arrives on the front porch. Only not your front porch. One several miles away.

I am going through my inbox at the moment and I'm embarrassed at the amount of things I missed or didn't reply to over the summer. To be fair I was going through some of the most traumatic months of my life but it's still not good enough that I didn't get back to some of you.
