Vaccines save lives.

And no, they do not cause autism.

When I was a kid, I laughed at the SNL "Is there going to be a covert amphibious assault, and if so, where?" skit.

But the fact is, those are *our* troops, not any single President's. America's Army, built on Americans' taxes.

You deserve better than what the Secretary of War is giving you.

The professionalism that our most senior military commanders exhibited with their silence today despite repeated attempts by Hegseth & Trump begging them to please clap was encouraging, & should be an example to all troops when they try to exploit them for partisan politics. bsky.app/profile/atru...

One of the better explainers I've read in a while about AI, and what happens when CEOs make bonkers decisions about how to implement it in workflows, and leave some skeleton crew or one poor sap in place to check the work of the machine that's right 61% of the time.

It's wild how politely asking grown ass adults to wear masks and stop coughing on produce was the second coming of Stalin. But military takeovers of cities based on who they elected is totally cool patriot freedom USA.

"Bluesky is boring."

Social media *should* be boring. Being algorithm and dopamine poisoned is bad, actually.

When your feed dries up for the day, that's your cue to go do something else until new stuff shows up later.

I may have cringed (and shaken my cane at the sky) when "rizz" was added, but this? This deserves its place. Congrats to Cory Doctorow.

Thousands of farm animals & livestock are going unattended.

They aren’t being milked. They aren’t being fed.

I feel a great deal more for those animals than for the farmers who voted for this shit.

They KNEW who their workers were & where they came from. But they voted to hurt them anyway.

Normally I attach a sarcastic "Won't someone think of the shareholders!?" to these sorts of things, but in this case, someone already did. Good thing the administration is shutting down all those solar and wind projects to make sure there's more market for natural gas. And coal, of course.

Oh good, the "States' Rights! ...except when we say so" crowd is back for... ah yes, animal cruelty. Everyone can go ahead and mark your "but at least we'll get cheaper eggs" bingo cards.

US government sues California over egg prices
President Donald Trump's administration on Wednesday sued California over its regulation of eggs and chicken farms, saying that the state's anti-animal cruelty laws created "unnecessary red tape" that had raised egg prices throughout the U.S.

I'm sorry but the largest protest of my lifetime is not the 7th or 8th biggest news story in the country behind "what does Gen Z want from Instagram?" This shit is humiliating. Rearrange your layout to meet this moment. Omitting the thing happening in every American city is malpractice.

As we doom scroll our way through each day now, I wonder about the person whose job it will be to curate social media for history students a hundred years from now the way it was someone's job to curate letters and diary entries and such for the textbook I had to read in High School History class.

With apologies to those journalists and others at the Times still trying to provide unbiased coverage, I just can't support this sort of coverage with my dollars anymore.
F--k the New York Times. I just canceled my subscription.

I am absolutely a statistic of this. Part of why I upgraded from a 13 to a 16, in addition to the usual evolution of camera guts, was on the promise of Apple Intelligence. Namely I am tired of the abandonware version of Siri, and figured, "They couldn't possibly make it *worse*."

It's worse.
Apple delaying the "more personalized Siri" features of Apple Intelligence, after pitching them at WWDC 2024, squanders the credibility Apple built over decades (John Gruber/Daring Fireball)

Any decent human being should be willing to make the financial or volume of meat consumption sacrifice to stop the literal torture of animals. It's that simple.
Most of us love animals – but also eat meat. Unfortunately, most animals we eat live in horrible conditions, not for better meat, just for cheaper meat. Watch our latest video to see how little it takes to still eat meat but minimize animal suffering:
