god that whole cast is just blasting it out of the park, Cena does steal the show when he's around but Elba and Melchior just about make me cry, Kinnaman has effortless charisma and crackerjack timing, and the Agee/Stallone team on Nanaue is hysterical

movie holds tf up

If Flag had to do it all over again he probably doesn't put down the shotgun before he goes to retrieve the files 😅

Holland mentioned that during one of the podcasts, like she read the scripts and was like "time to work on these guns fr fr"

hopefully this all ends well and was a simple mistake or other foolishness BUT perhaps we can call a moratorium on declaring that arrogant, privileged scholars have nothing to fear from Trumpism and have no business emigrating to protect themselves and their families 🙃

Incredibly alarming—after the whole ridiculous antifa roundtable at the White House, as Mark was moving with his family to Europe after threats…

No doubt inspired by THE STAND

The political gap between online edgelords and cranky normies is very large, maybe insurmountable, and a genuine problem for Trumpism

When part of your movement thinks a thing is good and another part thinks it’s ontologically evil, that’s weakness and it’s why I insist on calling fascism fascism
leetoma.bsky.social
Posobiec claim: Antifa is so clearly real that it “has been going on for almost 100 years … going back to the Weimar Republic in Germany.”

Analysis: it’s… difficult to position yourself as the good guys if you’re aligning yourself with the Nazis in your historical analogy.

ANALYSIS | Trump just hosted an ‘Antifa roundtable’ at the White House ... it was so much worse than you’re imagining

(If you don’t know this story, then yes, it’s possible all of us are alive today because of the work of “Star Trek” director Nicholas Meyer and his TV movie THE DAY AFTER)

Reagan was a despot and war criminal but his TV-induced fear of nuclear weapons inspired him to meaningfully progress toward disarmament & de-escalation between the superpowers

You can’t just say it’s impossible for good things to happen in a world with bad rulers, hurts you more than it hurts them
anguirus.bsky.social
If Trump tells you the sky is blue, run outside and check

But if the sky is in fact blue, don’t then report to others that it’s actually green

Don't tell Palestinians not to have hope or that the ceasefire deal is doomed.

They know what Trump is. They know what the Occupation is. They live under Occupation every day. We're not doing them any favors telling them what they already know.

Let them have hope. We all need it. So do they.

For a related reversal, SUICIDE SQUAD is an indifferent film that spawned a far-superior sequel, a phenomenal TV series, and arguably the new DCU flagship film/franchise, SUPERMAN (2025)

Spin-offs are fun!
anguirus.bsky.social
MAN OF STEEL is an incredible superhero flick, but then the same writer-director wrote the titular character *terribly* in the sequel, then had him sit out most of JUSTICE LEAGUE (which was otherwise rather good)

I mean I think you established a robust pre-existing framework for their gayness PERSONALLY but some people thought bits like “Dorothy explicitly realizes she has a crush on Joyce and is bisexual” were too subtle and didn’t count as foreshadowing anything 🤷
anguirus.bsky.social
Did Frasier Crane write this?!?!?

(I mean. He’s far too literate to trip over a play THIS famous. But it’s the KIND of mistake he consistently makes through ignorance of OTHER things.)

TFW you paid $1400 to see Beckett’s most famous work without knowing anything about it
One Star Review of Waiting for Godot on Broadway
I recently attended Waiting for Godot on Broadway and spent over $1,400 for two Row C seats (103 and 104). I'm a longtime admirer of Broadway productions and even hold a season pass for Shea's Performing Arts Theatre, so I came in with genuine enthusiasm and high expectations. Unfortunately, this show was unlike anything ! have ever experienced —and not in a good way.
What I encountered was not the artistry, music, or emotional storytelling I usually associate with Broadway, but instead what felt like an endless cycle of nonsensical conversation between characters who seemed trapped in their own madness. I tried-truly tried-to find meaning, symbolism, or even a thread of emotional resonance. I stayed through the first half hoping the second would offer clarity. But by intermission, it was clear: this was a waste of both time and money.
Keanu Reeves is an actor I respect greatly, but I cannot fathom why he would agree to participate in such a disjointed, inaccessible production. His talent was lost in a performance that defied reason rather than provoked insight.
To anyone considering attending: unless you are drawn to highly abstract, nearly incomprehensible theater, I strongly caution you against this show. For the average, educated, thoughtful theatergoer, it is far more frustrating than fulfilling. In my opinion, this was the single most disappointing Broadway experience I've ever had - an unfortunate waste of money and, more importantly, of time.

“Don’t get left behind” is resonant when you have family members who cannot use even the simplest computer or smartphone, and/or family involved in some explosive high-tech startup in recent decades.

Also we’ve normalized the idea that if you don’t have useful skills, you starve. So there’s that.

You know, most human generations have not lived through even one technological revolution. For us there are at least four in living memory—aeronautics, quantum physics, biotech, and computing.

We’re *used* to some kind of big new thing coming over the horizon, and scammers use this to prey on us.

Jason Blum's take on AI sucks. an AI takeover isn't inevitable, and treating it as such (while also referring to filmmaking as "content creation," smdh) helps AI companies promote the lie that their deeply unprofitable, destructive tech is more powerful and useful than it actually is.

something very funny is happening.

not “ha-ha” funny.

pointing out that the COO is following the heritage foundation is "unhinged" and this kind of frightening behavior has driven me to take down my labeler which didn't even monitor the heritage foundation
anguirus.bsky.social
The broadly successful conflation of antisemitism with anti-Zionism makes this sort of thing inevitable.

Like, of course the US and Israeli flags mean “fuck the Nazis!” But as you say they mean a lot of other things too…
anguirus.bsky.social
I mean when the entire moral political life of your country is tied up in having done the worst atrocity ever less than a hundred years ago yeah not enough people are parsing things out.

It’s kind of the same syndrome that Biden et al. have here, and which the ADL has tried to install en masse.

Another casualty that definitely isn't connected to the Bluesky CEO's ongoing meltdown.

Totally just a coincidence.
Excerpt from article:

Third update: The Follow Tracker labeller — the tool that showed who was following nine prominent racists, transphobes, and other figures popular with the US alt-right — is shutting down. Its operator insists this isn’t because of Bluesky’s CEO (and thus, presumably, not because the labeller identified her as following two well known anti-trans activists), but rather “because some of you can’t be trusted to use this information reasonably and responsibly,” which is a curious justification coming from an account literally named @for.shame.wtf.

I mean they CAN do anything, so I think by that point it’s up to the generals 🤪

Impeachment/removal is so hard though I don’t think it’s likely to even get there. If the Congress wants to end the Trump regime enough to actually pull it off, they are well past letting SCOTUS stand in the way.

holy smoke how did I never notice before that Waller, when confronted by evidence of Flag's survival by Economos, ORDERS Team 2 to massacre the resistance fighters' camp and tells them it's extremely dangerous to let any of them live!
anguirus.bsky.social
not a criticism, stories evolve, but it is funny that Emilia Harcourt is goofing around in the control room after an ambush that Amanda Waller CLEARLY set up SPECIFICALLY in order to have her best friend killed in Gunn's THE SUICIDE SQUAD 😈

A lot of people who ought to know better are doing this.

Lot of people.
