There's a predictable approach to denial that we're already seeing, which I call the Four Pillars of Disordered Doubt, which allows actors to constantly question evidence that don't fit their preferred narratives.

This is bleak reading

This reporting hurts me to my core… anyone reading this should be horrified and terrified of the current situation. Tariffs and economic threats are nothing compared to the travesty of destroying people’s humanity and aspirations for life.

Whenever people challenge privileged elites and make them explain themselves, that is a Great Horror That Signals The End Times.

But, those so-called protectors of free speech will say nothing when it comes to actual censorship based on fear of government retaliation.

Because it was always a lie.
NYU canceled a planned speech by the former president of Doctors Without Borders because she planned to discuss the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and cuts to US AID.

This is what actual campus censorship looks like.
‘Climate of fear’: Montreal doctor says NYU cancelled her presentation
A Montreal doctor says her presentation at NYU was abruptly cancelled and believes the university did so out of fear of being pressured by the Donald Trump administration.

This is more important than you realize. Bluesky doesn’t downgrade links. Which means news sites will get more traffic from here than other sites.

Which gives them economic reasons to post here first.
Bluesky says it is now sending referral traffic through its "go" subdomain to make it easier for publishers to track the traffic coming from the social network (Sarah Perez/TechCrunch)

They're called public records for a reason. Starting today, WIRED will *stop paywalling* articles that are primarily based on public records obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, becoming the first publication to partner with @freedom.press to offer this for our new coverage.
Wired is dropping paywalls for FOIA-based reporting. Others should follow
As the administration does its best to hide public records from the public, Wired magazine is stepping up to help stem the secrecy

All too often today, we celebrate the extraordinary. We look at other people's fake, fantastic lives on SoMe and want the easy, no worries lifestyle.
The ordinary makes the world go round, the grunt work is the corner stone of any modern society.
Forget influencers. Hail the average and ordinary

I got laid off today, with the rest of 18F.

18F was an elite federal software shop. We made gov't websites work better, more efficiently for the American people. We saved taxpayers from getting screwed over by contractors. And were fired for it.

We made this website to tell our story:

This sounds like sound scientific method testing. I can get behind this
Look, I’m not saying getting yourself a giant coffee drink will fix all your problems, but the science tells us there’s only one way to know for sure that it won’t

It’s difficult to overstate how much Trump is shredding the US’s standing in the world.

James O’Brien/LBC is one of the most popular, independent broadcasters in the UK.

“Trump is lying on a scale that is almost impossible to compute…peddling Kremlin, pro-Putin propaganda. It’s extraordinary.”

🚨Holy shit.

Trump has just launched a scathing attack on Zelenskyy.

He’s actually called him a dictator.

There can be no doubt: the President of the United States is now a Kremlin asset.

Time to turn off the taps.
Not a single bottle of American wine, beer or bourbon should be sold anywhere in Canada.
From here on in I will only drink "freedom" wines from Canada, France or Spain.
As for the beer? It's shit anyways.
