Good news, I figured out a project for Publisher; I'm gonna make entertainment bingo cards for 2026 :) I've got 5 planned: books, video games, movies, TV shows, and music albums. Gonna write up the spaces tonight and attempt to get a template together either tonight or tomorrow.
I've mentioned I'm trying to push my art/design skills next year so I'm trying to tie project ideas to new tools I want to learn: specifically the Affinity suite (Designer, Photo, and Publisher) and Procreate Dreams

I have a couple Publisher projects planned but I'm not sure about the others yet 🤔

tonight's animal crossing goals:

- continue working on my island's park/playground area
- decorate more vacation homes in the DLC (as many as possible) (I'm ready to be done with it now!)

I've never felt closer to another human being than this kid who said their purpose was video games and peanut butter nutella sandwiches.
Reading Rainbow bloopers! 😂🦋📚🌈

Video Description:
•kids doing their best to stay focused, but still dancing
•kids telling Mychal their purpose is video games, watching tv, and peanut butter nutella sandwiches
•kid suggests building animal robots to replace other robots

headache is headaching so I may be swapping the audiobook out for some gentle music but I gotta say, I'm really enjoying Miracles and Wonder, even though I'm getting the feeling I don't know *quite* enough about Christianity to fully appreciate it. Elaine Pagels sure does, though.

a couple #acnh landscape photos I took that I liked a lot. the camera is definitely my favorite feature.

if anyone needs some hyacinths... I have a few to spare

I did not anticipate how quickly not knowing how to navigate a piece of software would wear down my stamina lmao but I decided to brainstorm directly in affinity photo for the practice. this is definitely not going to be finished tonight but I'm trying to enjoy the process.

reference materials gathered! I think I want to do a tourism-style poster for Earth. I'm kind of envisioning something you might hang in a science classroom? maybe I should have added some classroom posters to this.

gonna give myself an hour or so to ponder and do thumbnails

I'm going to be very brave and attempt to design a poster using the Affinity Suite tonight. confused and flustered process-posting to follow.

the other day I asked my mom if she remembered this book and I got a VERY exasperated "oh yeah I remember alright!" (it was hers) (she used it for work) (I stole it from her)
sometimes I think it's understandable that my autism wasn't caught earlier but then I remember that my favorite book growing up was the 1993 New York Public Library's Student Desk Reference encyclopedia and. idk maybe there were signs.

another sheepdate. I also ended up finding the sheep program from my uncle story, it was called eSheep 😭 and apparently someone patched it to make it compatible with newer machines! esheep.petrucci.ch

- legally changed my name
- did hourly comic day for the first time in like 6 years
- started (digitally) painting in earnest
- started asking for help more (am still shocked by how often it works)
- volunteered as a pollworker for both elections
- survived a subarachnoid hemorrhage???

I did a lot!

Reading & writing has kept me alive this year.

Somehow, it’s been my most productive year as an author.

Here’s a guide to what I’ve published in 2025, in case you’ve lost track.

when I was a kid, years before I discovered shimeji, my late uncle had a windows program that was just a little yellow sheep that would wander around your desktop, grazing and peeing. you could clone multiple sheep and have a little flock. I was obsessed with it.

today I got woolly for christmas 🐑❤️

probably a sign of aging but I got socks and an electric air duster for christmas and I genuinely could not be happier

tiny snowy painting based on my vague memories of a tiktok tutorial I watched this morning. I found a gouache brush in procreate's new defaults that I really like, Gadsby I think?

terrible news update on this by the way, a hold I was really looking forward to came in yesterday and today my brain has decided is a Music Day so reading prospects are not looking great
I am currently reading four books at the same time and one is a book club book that we just started so I doubt we'll be finishing it before the year ends but I'm challenging myself to get through the other three and I'm making alright progress so far. it's keeping me off tiktok, my ultimate goal.

having messed around with generative AI tools and done my best to understand what exactly they are and how they work has left me in kind of a moral gray area. I kind of see some of the use. I definitely see the appeal. I'm concerned about its resource costs. I am HORRIFIED by its sudden ubiquity.

when I was a teenager in digital art spaces if you traced someone else's drawing without their permission and posted it (plagiarism, by the way) you would be publicly crucified on every corner of the internet but I guess now it's fine as long as a computer program does it
For further context twitter added a button that allows users to generate ai images using existing art posts from artists. It removes glaze and it basically reskins the artwork by using the existing work as a base. Twitter is no longer a safe space for art

more good medical news, my latest CT came back clean 🙌 we're gonna do one more angiogram next month as a final precaution to make sure my blood vessels are okay but if that comes back negative then I'm officially cured of brain bleeditis. very good news!

this is a small and dumb and inconsequential thing but one thing that really annoys me about acnh is all the fruit trees they cut from new leaf. I want my lemon trees back. :"(
December 24, 2025 at 4:17 AM
okay well I found out today that they made the entire Affinity suite free on iOS so I officially have no excuse not to learn how to use them now (I am ignoring the acquisition from Canva I am plugging my ears and pretending I don't hear anything about gen AI and subscriptions in the distance)
December 24, 2025 at 2:21 AM
thanks to the generosity of friends (and a random class action lawsuit payout I'd forgotten about) I managed to pay my bills AND assemble some respectable christmas gift bags for my family 🙌 including my cat niece
December 23, 2025 at 10:26 PM
had my neuro physical therapy consultation today and I'm pleased to report that my brain exploding has had no noticeable impact on my balance, gait, or motor skills 🙌 all very good news indeed
