I want ICE out of DC for good and think DC should stop working with them and push them to leave

Washington DC is the only jurisdiction in the nation that has to wait with bated breath to see if out-of-state politicians have used the federal budget to impose their values on us and repeal local laws. It is wrong, and the only solution to this injustice is DC Statehood. I will keep pushing for it

Unfortunately, the bill does maintain the two "legacy" riders on DC that prevent us from using our own local tax dollars to help women get abortions and that allow us to legalize the sale of marijuana

The bill also allows DC to use the FY 27 budget approved by our government if any continuing resolution does not specifically state otherwise, and provides our police department the requested amount for emergency planning and security

May Marckell rest in peace, may his loved ones find a way through this awful tragedy, and may our elected officials work to reduce, rather than increase, the number of people subject to tragedies like this

Why are congressional Republicans wasting their time on local DC traffic enforcement rather than focusing on the big problems facing our country? They need to stop focusing on how to reduce their traffic tickets and start delivering for their constituents

I implore anyone who is going out to protest to stay peaceful. They want to be able to paint us as violent. Don’t take the bait

We need ICE out of Washington DC, and we need our police department to stop cooperating with out-of-control federal immigration authorities, before this happens in DC too

Jan. 6th was a wake-up call about the need for DC statehood, and the President's recent treatment of DC is yet more confirmation. Today, I am thinking of all the Washingtonians harmed by the President's supporters on Jan. 6th. They and all Washingtonians deserve #DCstatehood

After refusing to use the National Guard to stop a mob of violent MAGA criminals, five years later the President has deployed them as political props on the streets of DC as part of his agenda to recreate DC in his far-right image

We are being governed by the most corrupt, self-serving President this country has ever seen. DC has borne the brunt because we are not a state. The attempt to seize control of DC's public golf courses is another (small) example of how this harms regular people in DC and nationwide

Even before taking formal control of the site, the Administration has begun remaking the East Potomac Golf Links by dumping the construction debris from their illegal razing of the East Wing of the White House at East Potomac. Layers upon layers of self-dealing
