King’s admissions team working very hard to convince applicants of the value of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies and other arts and humanities degrees. Godspeed, may these words be heard by young people filling out their UCAS forms.

In Russia I have seen the Swan Lake of Bolshoi quality set by Grigorovich himself. It was perfect, clinical, and lifeless. I never thought the Swan Lake can be funny, camp, erotic, and moving to tears. Matthew Bourne is a genius who reminds us to never stop reinterpreting art.

No, I don't think Williams had any epistemology of thick concepts. Just to note I don't think consultation of the public (whatever that is) is necessary for responsible deployment of thick concepts. It's too high and too bureaucatic a bar for many cases. Still it has a place of course...

Congratulations, Marion! A very compelling thesis. It’s so great to see the literature on thick concepts in science exploding even though Bernard Williams himself thought that thick concepts is what differentiates ethics from science. Thank you for tagging me

i don't think there's a particularly strong correlation between having regimented daily writing time and being a productive writer, but i do think there's a very strong correlation between having regimented daily writing time and producing guides to productive writing

I too note an excellent usage of the fine term ‘wankery’. Did you use it living in USA or only since you moved to Scotland?

Didn’t expect to receive a hard copy of this volume. So satisfying to hold. An honour to philosophise alongside these wonderful thinkers. Here’s the link academic.oup.com/aristotelian...

Life satisfaction mostly declines with age. Previous findings (esp. the famous U-shaped age-SWB trajectory) were artifacts of misspecified models. doi.org/10.1093/esr/...
