Please consider reading my book!

It explores a hidden reason why federal anti-poverty programs don't seem to work - a vast web of corporate interests (skimmers, monopolists and opportunists) that make poverty and poverty programs their business model.

A majority of Americans seem to believe that the ends justify the means - they told NYT/Siena that Trump is "mostly" deporting the right people, even if the process is "unfair."

We have truly lost our way as a country.

The racism is patently obvious.

NYT reports that only TWO of the 98 Senate-confirmed senior officials in the Trump administration are Black. At the same time, Trump has systematically purged women and people of color from top jobs.

The Supreme Court will soon hear a case on an Illinois lawsuit challenging mail-in ballots. There's a lot at stake.

Restrictions on vote-by-mail would be catastrophic for democracy, says former Oregon Secretary of State Phil Keisling @washingtonmonthly.com

Why Does Trump Hate Vote-By-Mail?
Restricting vote-by-mail, as Trump wants, could disenfranchise millions of voters, explains pioneer of the practice Phil Keisling.

After 30 years of publication, the U.S. Department of Agriculture abruptly canceled its annual report on the prevalence of hunger in America. The USDA’s press release condemned the report as “politicized,” “subjective, liberal fodder” that did “nothing more than fear monger.”
An American Hunger Crisis Is Coming
Trump’s cruel and disastrous policies—slashing food stamps and hiking inflationary tariffs—are creating an American hunger crisis.

If you can, please donate to your local food bank:

- Trump's cuts to SNAP will mean *4 million* Americans could lose all or part of their benefits;

- Grocery prices are 29% higher than pre-pandemic;

- Job losses are mounting.

Trump does not have the legal authority to use tariff revenue as a slush fund he can deploy to avoid backlash against his policies.

The tariffs could also be declared unconstitutional, in which case the govt would owe refunds.

The subhed here is a master class in corporate journalism rewarding malfeasance via semantics

Bondi didn't valiantly fend something off, she refused to answer legitimate questions before Congress because the answers would be horrifying and politically inconvenient

And that's a profile in cowardice

The administration’s contempt for Congress is breathtaking.

But is it any surprise? Congress has shown itself so weak in the face of the Trump administration’s lawlessness that it’s no wonder it has no respect.

I thought I'd put the administration's proposed "compact" with universities in context, so I wrote the blog post below.

It's especially for journalists covering this story!

Many details about how the compact itself works and why the administration has retreated to this strategy.
