Wishing all a happy Lindsey Halligan Title Reveal day tomorrow! 🥳⚖️
Is this the fourth or fifth disqualified Trump US attorney? I think the fifth? Essayli, Halligan, Chattah, Habba, and now Sarcone (the guy who appointed himself as his own deputy.)

Super interesting thread about Marin (in particular) and the timeline of planning for sea level rise.
Or, counterpoint, we could just keep living in a world where Hwy 101 from Sausalito to Corte Madera is regularly photographed at every king tide. 🧐
Another way to frame this is that the big infrastructure solutions have a "maturity mismatch" with the politics of paying for them. That means that the ideas like @kzhill.bsky.social was talking about earlier - houses built in ponds that can float - seem like a better thing to experiment with.

“Extreme wildfire weather conditions doubled in California between 1980 and 2020.”

It sure does feel that way.
"And when we did that, we found that extreme wildfire weather conditions had doubled in California between 1980 and 2020. That’s not a small increase."

How I love a heady discussion of fonts! ✍️
Garamond seems to be coming up a dominate choice among those who care enough to answer this question! Lots of folks noting that a good sans is easier on the eyes for screen reading; I'm a fan of Garamond *as a "formal" font* but use sanses (Roboto, Avenir) in my editing.
ok this is an insane story but let’s do a poll: if you could declare your workplace’s official font, what would it be? (Might be different than *favorite* font!)

It is as I feared. The new Ken Burns series on the American Revolution is a riveting story, expertly told, and curdled by 12 hours of dreary fiddle music. 🤦‍♀️

This thread was almost too much for even my caffeinated mind to grok, but what I’m hearing you say is I can’t really blame my parents for how I turned out? 🧐
So there you have it, twin study estimates were greatly inflated, and molecular data sets the record straight. I walk through possible counter-arguments, but ultimately the uncomfortable truth is that genes contribute to traits much less than we always thought.

Critical thinking skills > nearly all other skills.
So maybe it’s not that everyone using LLMs gets dumber (I think there are good uses for them, personally) it’s that the kind of people who are satisfied by the answers they get from an LLM probably aren’t thinking too critically to begin with.

Not sure how surveys will account for this!
