Assimilation and denaturalization are all part and parcel with an exploitative system of extraction. It alienates you, isolates you, and dissolves communities and loyalties.
In a kinder system with community & human rights guarantees, there simply wouldn't be any justification to rip families apart

And there are absolutely parallels of adopting the children of communities that have been colonized, exploited, and extracted from. You see this clearly with Native Americans for example and it is one of the defining features of genocide.

Well as a Leftist I do care. These are exigencies created by a Capitalist system that has no social safety net. I support UBI. I support government funded daycare (which any stay-at-home parent should be able to claim regardless of gender). I support food, utilites, and housing as human rights.

It's simply a glaring omission that undermines the moral certitude and hand wringing of people lamenting the current state of things. To paraphrase Ta-Nehisi Coates, if you can't stop genocide, you probably won't be able to protect democracy.

I've been delving into it bucko. For the first year of it while liberals were out to lunch. Which, like if you wanted to stop Fascism, protesting a genocide and demanding your politicians do better leading up to the election might've helped. Especially with Trump's re-election hanging in the balance

So genocide (The Crime of Crimes) doesn't count if the Dems also do it? I don't understand. How does the Biden administration committing genocide diminish Trump's continuation of it or his absolutely atrocious peace plan (on par or worse than the Ukraine deal)

I think it's funny how each party has a separate group of economy wonks who hate each other but all wind up unanimously saying that things are Great Actually and poor people are just too stupid and irresponsible to realize that.
