I was christened as a baby. It was not consensual and I wasn't even consulted. consequently, I am now a dyed-in-the-wool atheist/antitheist. I'm not sure that the Prime Minister's use of "I was christened" is a convincing argument for the UK as a christian nation.

As a German and a historian I'm usually not fond of these kinds of stunts; they tend to simplify and make light of a horrific, and very specific history.

But I have to admit that the translation and 30s style VO in the delivery hits home more than I expected.

It is literally the same rhetoric.
