Wonderful to see the hard work of our @uon-hrlc.bsky.social interns Joline-Sophie Klein & Aline Fabiana Campos Pereira (supported by @olive-the-above.bsky.social Welch) reflected in Tomoya Obokata's final report to the #UNHRC on the worst forms of #childlabour.

Famine is now a reality in Gaza. A man-made disaster for children and families that we have been warning about.

Urgent, large-scale action is needed NOW for children and families.

This is an essential and largely ignored #childrights impact of Israel's ongoing assault on #Gaza in clear, rampant violation of #internationallaw. This and the extremely severe #health and #food rights violations experienced by children in Gaza will deform their lives forever, even if they are...

Children in #Gaza have already lost two school years.
They are about to lose a third year.

Instead of learning, children spend their time searching for water and food.

Children urgently need a #CeasefireNow so they can go back to learning and reconnect with whatever is left of their childhood.

The school guidance-related action is an adult-driven attack on #childrights pure & simple.
On a human level, it's just embarassing to see an objection to guidance tthat allows pupils “to use the facilities [toilets and changing rooms] they feel most comfortable with”

The alarming increase in the use of explosive weapons in populated areas is a leading cause of child casualties in conflicts around the world.

Let’s #ProtectChildrenInConflict together. unicef.link/4fAtGiz
Killing and maiming children is a grave violation.

We must protect children and their rights in conflict.
This deadly new normal can change when we advocate for children.

For example, 88 countries around the world have committed to stop using explosive weapons in populated areas – a cause of over 70% of all incidents of killing and maiming.

Together, we can do more to protect children in conflict.
TAKE ACTION TO PROTECT CHILDREN AND THEIR RIGHTS IN CONFLICT

Every day, children in conflict zones around the world continue to come under attack.
We must reject this deadly new normal.

Here are a few ways to protect children in conflict:

Keep yourself informed through credible sources:
Access to accurate information is critical to understanding the realities children face in wars. Follow credible sources that prioritize evidence and voices on the ground.

Reach out to your elected leaders:
Demand that leaders protect children in conflict by contacting them via email, phone, social media or other avenues.

Support individuals and organizations:
Donate, sign up for emails, share posts and amplify the voices and experiences of those directly impacted by conflict and trusted organizations working for children's protection.

Keep taking action:
Advocating for and with children is an everyday responsibility. We will never give up on children. Join us.
