Likes Spielberg, history, books and that bit in The Apartment where Jack tells Shirley how many drinks he's had. Hopeless romantic. Lost cause idealist. Quixotic fiasco.

Once got lost in his own museum.

Back when I was on Twitter, I put together a massive thread of my favourite Spielberg shots. When I deleted my account, I put them together in a little PDF so I wouldn't lose them all.

That doc is now on From Director Steven Spielberg:

Crazy stuff here. Check out how long it goes on for in the shot where Leo grabs Adams. Plus you can see that Spielberg shot the reverse so he could get out of the moving master, which he does. But he stays in these shots as long as he can so they can build. I'm sure it's better for the actors too

Can really recommend the Jaws 50 documentary on iPlayer. I knew the filming had been rough but didn't know how much it had affected Spielberg

Watching ET and I always find it strange that people are a bit sniffy about stuff like Stranger Things borrowing liberally from it. E.T. not only ends by grabbing from Miracle in Milan, but literally re-enacts The Quiet Man. Let's not even start on all the things Indiana Jones nudges towards.

Amongst tiresome "Is Die Hard a Christmas film?" discourse, this collection from the BFI is a refreshingly open approach to the idea of Christmas films. "Christmas films [...] become emotional time machines – reminding us who we were and how we’ve grown."
