I will not back down.

Trump is now calling for the arrest of elected representatives checking his power.

What else is left on the path to full-blown authoritarianism?
Donald Trump Truth Social Post: Chicago Mayor should be in jail for failing to protect Ice Officers! Governor Pritzker also.

This was the model Apple used. It was remarkably effective. Look at schools using tablets and loads of them will be iPads. Incredibly lucrative market for tech.

"Why would OpenAI and Microsoft spend $23 million to give 'free training' on how to use AI to teachers? Because they love teachers? No. Because they want to get their products into public schools in an attempt to cultivate the education market."

I maintain that we are in grave danger due not only to the trends noted by @hamiltonnolan.bsky.social in this piece, but by the failure of the Democratic party 1) to grasp these dangers and act in advance to prevent or minimize them; (1)

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

Not a clue.

Either is is a solution to an invented issue

Or it’s suggesting children should be using phones to lie to their parents more….

Because it feels relevant as we continue to evaluate the media and our representatives’ statements, my favorite way to identify the active vs. passive voice.
A post by Rebecca Johnson:
“I finally learned how to teach my guys to ID the passive voice. If you can insert "by zombies" after the verb, you have passive voice.”

A tumblr respond from mightymur:
“The final, brilliant word on passive voice.
"She was killed [by zombies.]"<--passive
"Zombies killed [by zombies] her." <-- active”

Indeed. And creates such disparities on courses where some people are working 2 jobs just to train

It’s simply appalling. I’m aware that lots of depts in both English and History fill gaps with non-specislists doing bits and pieces, especially at KS3. But how does shallow teacher knowledge build the firm ‘foundations’ of deep subject knowledge they so frequently talk about?
apf102.bsky.social
Completely agree. Same issue has been hitting History for some time. This makes teacher education inaccessible to some of the best candidates. It also makes routes which offer funding more attractive, even if they don't have the best track records for retention or subject expertise.

Amused that history didn’t even make it onto the list - it’s been that long since we had a bursary!!

The lack of student bursaries for training as an English teacher will only lead to further shortages of specialist English teachers and damage to the subject as a whole. Such a short-sighted decision!

The lack of training bursary for ALL #ITT beginning #teacher s is highly problematic. It is a significant barrier to entry into the profession. It creates geographical cold spots & prevents those without funds to self support from training. 1/2

Another funding round and another kick in the teeth for PGCE History!!

Notably this year there is no core funding for English teachers either, who join Business, Music, PE, RE and others out in the cold.

In a cost of living crisis, this is directly impacting who gets to train.

It breaks my mind that two British political parties have seen scenes like this and decided to try and replicate it in Britain. Thuggary, lawlessness, state brutality. Farage and Badenoch decided they liked the look of it.

She was arrested for holding a sign reading:

“I do not support the proscription of Palestine Action”

How that would warrant arrest is very unclear. I wonder if the police here even understand the boundaries of the bizarre law they’ve been forced to enforce.
