🎙️ Are broadcast archives ready for certification as trusted digital repositories? 📦🔐 Over the past 15 years, digital preservation standards like OAIS (#ISO14721) and frameworks such as #ISO16363, #DIN31646, and the #CoreTrustSeal have set the bar for trustworthy archiving. A few leading audiovisual institutions have stepped up. But as far as I know, no archive directly managed by a broadcaster has achieved certification. Why? 📍 At this year’s FIAT/IFTA World Conference hosted in #Rome by Archivio Luce Cinecittà, I’ll present how Radiotelevisione Svizzera (RSI), the Italian-speaking branch of Swiss Public Broadcasting, is taking bold steps to change that. I can tell already that we started with a self-audit based on the #ScoreModel for Digital Sustainability, developed by NDE and the former #Packed, now part of meemoo, Vlaams instituut voor het archief. But this journey has revealed critical insights: 🔸 Certification standards often don’t “fit” the operational reality of broadcaster archives. 🔸 Applying them requires not just compliance, but interpretation. 🔸 There's an urgent need for a tailored framework that supports in-house archives in the media sector. 🇮🇹 If you're passionate about long-term access, audiovisual heritage, or the future of digital sustainability in broadcasting, this is a session you won’t want to miss. 💡 Let’s rethink what “trusted” means for broadcaster-run archives, and work toward a more inclusive and practical approach. 📆 Rome, end of October.
