True cosmic terror is when you spot a odd-looking "galaxy", that doesn't resemble a galaxy, about 13-ish billion light years away, and realizing that it's blue instead of red

The coolest thing I’ve seen today is that a bunch of volunteer public health professionals and developers have restored the CDC website from before January 20th 2025.

This differs from an archive in that they want to rebuild the links between pages and replicate the full website.

Hubble captures the spiral galaxy NGC 2841, 46 million light-years away in Ursa Major. Its bright core, dust lanes, and blue stars stand out, but fewer emission nebulae suggest lower star formation. Fiery young stars likely cleared the remaining gas.

Waves embrace the golden sand,
Kissing shore with a fleeting hand.
Rocky sentinels, proud and tall,
Stand unshaken through it all.

Blushing clouds in fading light.

Nature’s art for all to see.
