Just heard a right wing RSS supporter say: "Sangh has done more for Dalits in 10 years than Congress in past 70."

No, my man. The Sangh has always remained a Brahminical org. You have better make up artists now to mask that caste pride. That's the only difference.

There's a case to be made that Amiya Kumar Bagchi made economic history not only exciting but also enabled a legion of historians to read data intelligently. And thereby strengthened the charge of colonial plunder, like Naoroji before him.A big loss. 🗃️

Amitav Ghosh is fleshing out his ideas about climate and the coloniality of power and the lecture he gave today is so exciting. Puts the focus squarely where it needs to be-imperial militarization. This is the kind of public intellectual work we need.

The inherent problem with Threads is the inability to have political conversations there. I can't imagine social media, any social media, that doesn't engage with politics or the political.
Ummm Mr. Zuckerberg, the problem with threads isn’t its features, it’s that influencer culture is inherently bad and the content kinda sucks.

Just learned that Amiya Bagchi, political economist and economic historian of the colonial and postcolonial world, has passed away. He was 88. His books 'Private Investment in India' (1972) and 'Political Economy of Underdevelopment'(1982) remain landmark works of scholarships.

Priyanka Gandhi's success marks a historic moment: for the first time in decades, all three members of the Nehru-Gandhi family are now part of Parliament. Albeit, it comes amidst Maharashtra drubbing, but national implications of her victory can't be disputed.

The ICC's arrest warrant against Netanyahu is a crucial step towards justice.

And one of the things we have to address is how Israel has benefited using "anti-Semitism" to shield state-led atrocities in Gaza. Opposing state-led genocide is not hate—it's a moral imperative.

The state which seems to be in the centre of the Gautam Adani scandal and indictment is Andhra Pradesh. And TDP, the ruling party, is being cautious, waiting to see how it unfolds henceforth. My piece.

After the US indictment of Gautam Adani, I don't see how the Dharavi Redevelopment Project will go on. Too sensitive. But I do hope, for the sake of the people's livelihood there, the project gets scrapped.

The Gautam Adani indictment will make it difficult for him to invest now in the US, plus his big investment in Aus will now be thoroughly scrutinized. Also, a trigger happy litigant can use the American indictment as a precedent and file a petition in SC for a SC-minitored probe. Big takeaways.

This is the biggest news coming in. If Adani is indicted by the Justice Department, expect a massive blowback tomorrow. Rahul Gandhi will take the Modi government to the cleaners tomorrow.

I say it again. Hindu nationalism has to be seen as a global threat. The world doesn't realise this now, but it will. Very soon it will.
right wing Hindu nationalism has always been treated like a little bit of a side oddity here in the US but it is a horrifying, supremacist ideology and Tulsi Gabbard is all mixed up in it
