Anyone expecting the lifelong banker to do anything other than what's best for Billionaires was not thinking clearly.

fully agree. But as a result of the electric bike revolution here in edmonton I see older folks riding around like never before and I can't help but wonder how much of the bike lane outrage is ginned up and inauthentic. Door knocking this campaign cycle is reinforcing this perception.

This is the wording from eps, and it's being copy/pasted by the media.
But it doesn't say anything.
Someone making a left turn "moved back into" the lane they were turning from(?) and was killed.
Or did the person who just killed someone fail to stop?

At approximately 9:35 p.m. on Sept. 24, 2025, a personal electric scooter operated by a 49-year-old male was travelling northbound on 82 Street approaching 115 Avenue. While making a left turn onto 115 Avenue, the scooter moved back into the northbound lane of 82 Street and was struck by an Infiniti G37 operated by a 36-year-old male. The rider was dislodged from the scooter by the impact and was then struck by a southbound Chrysler 200 operated by a 30-year-old male.

Police in Airdrie, Alberta (just north of Calgary) say this driver hit a 17-year-old girl in a marked crosswalk, got out of the vehicle, and appeared to get upset at the teenager before driving away.

They released this video and are now trying to identify the driver.

This morning, the following email was individually sent to every MLA in the province of Alberta requesting intervention in the University of Alberta's decision to slash all child care funding for their students, faculty and staff.

The president was CC'd on each one as well.

Lessons from a municipal forum:

1) you can never fail to get applause telling middle class homeowners that they have not been consulted enough.

When I reached out to Ward D candidates (and current trustees!) about having to sign an anti trans permission slip for sport this year Anderson was the only candidate with a satisfactory response. My sense is Hunt knows what not to say - she tried to walk a very fine line.

I wish Edmonton's independent media organization held similar views with regard to AI. Instead it's all cheerleading and flattery.

While the world burns I am sent back in time to the Tooker Tapes. He was a friend, mentor, fellow activist and political genius. My task is to digitize/archive > 600hrs of tapes.

Along the way I'm pulling out clips to share. Enjoy!

It really burns me that I can't listen to a baseball game on the radio the way it was meant to be. Congrats to you

Important addition! The site is very confusing. Scroll to the bottom and find the link in the text to book your COVID-19 vaccine.

It's hard to see this as anything other than intentionally designed to discourage people from getting the vaccine.

After my August "pre-order," I got an email today to book a COVID shot, which reiterates it's ONLY available at public health clinics, not pharmacies.

The email links to a site that EXCLUDES bookings at pharmacies. 🙃

The correct link then says: "COVID-19 vaccines may be available at pharmacies" 🫠
Reminder to book your immunization appointment

This e-mail is your reminder to book your immunization appointment for the vaccine(s) you pre-ordered.

Please note: The COVID-19 vaccine is available only at public health centers. A fee may apply, and you may be turned away if you are not eligible. Please check your eligibility for the COVID-19 vaccine at https://www.alberta.ca/coronavirus-info-for-Albertans .

Individuals eligible for both the COVID-19 (Phase 1) and influenza vaccines can start booking on September 29, 2025. Everyone else is asked to wait and book starting October 20, 2025 (Phase 2).

BOOK YOUR APPOINTMENT: https://bookvaccine.alberta.ca/vaccine/s/booking

This email address is not monitored so please do not reply. Book an immunization appointment online

To book an appointment for influenza or other vaccines (excluding COVID-19) at a pharmacy, please enter your details below.

To book an appointment for COVID-19 vaccine at a public health clinic, please click here to use Connect Care. In phase 2, vaccine is available for all other Albertans age 6 months and older depending on vaccine availability. If you are in phase 2, you can book an appointment starting October 20. There will be a $100 administrative cost.

COVID-19 vaccines may be available at pharmacies at a cost. Contact your pharmacy for availability, to learn the cost, and how to book.

apparently he has some currency with the boomer folk fest types as proprietor of a live music venue/open stage. they get together and complain about parking on Whyte/everywhere and how much they hate infill housing
arnoldwaxwing.bsky.social
so many anti-infill signs on first gen tall skinnies in my neighbourhood. the dissonance suits our current political moment I guess - it's still weird

When a shooter opened fire in City Hall, Michael Elliott cracked jokes about it on Twitter.

Now, he's running to be a councillor in Tim Cartmell's party.

This defender of the Thin Blue Line wants to bring that ideology to city hall this October #yegvote

Nenshi is and will always be a Con in an orange overcoat. The fact that a politician isn't drooling over the opportunity to be publicly bigoted without consequences or to peek at kids' genitals /=/ progressive! It just means they're not a creepy fucking weirdo! Raise the fucking bar, Alberta!!
thebreakdownab.bsky.social
Today the NDP tried to highlight that Alberta’s minimum wage is on track to be the lowest in Canada…

But when asked what he would raise the minimum wage to, Nenshi refused to provide numbers and stated that it was governments job.

And it was a really strong “no”.

Muckrakers are necessary participants in any healthy media ecosystem. Their absence speaks volumes about the quisling nature of Edmonton's current information providers/environment, independent and otherwise.

As a long time, former subscriber to Taproot I can attest. It is not the answer.

A youth centre is a YMCA, a boys and girls club, a drop in, a place where kids can grow up and meet each other and play together and learn together and share positive experiences.
A jail is none of those things and if kids are getting sexually assaulted inside it, that’s by design.
