It seems I have brothers and sisters among the Blackfeet 🤘

Super good article @btoastie.bsky.social
A heavy music festival in Blackfeet Nation this summer was abut more than just music – it was a protective ceremony to shelter Indigenous youth from suicidal distress.

Many of the settings were in Hide by default. I’d set them on Warn to see how much of that junk is out there.
If you aren't seeing posts from some of the people you follow, they might have been labeled "Rude" by Bluesky mods. To switch it off go to Settings > Moderation > Bluesky Moderation (Advanced) and turn Rude off.

So I was looking into the Mamdani zeitgeist. Most comments were happy, some were not. I looked into the unhappy ones and almost all of the poster profiles had the word “Zionist” in them.

And they really didn’t need to bother because their timelines said the same thing over and over and over.

This sucks so much. US please get off your oil addiction.
European negotiators were personally targeted by their American counterparts during a brutal negotiation over green shipping rules, European Commission officials told POLITICO.

This highly unusual gambit left diplomats shaken after the meeting.
US accused of threatening EU diplomats during bid to kill green shipping rules
Negotiators at shipping talks in London were told both they and their countries could be punished unless they voted with the U.S.

On Thursday I learned the Brazilian guitar god Kiko Loureiro is coming to my local venue in two weeks.

Then I looked at their other gigs and today they had another Brazilian guitarist, Lari Basilio. So I bought a ticket ex tempore.

She was great 🤩

The feels when you watch a video about a steam boat and then discover your great-granddad, granddad and dad have all been at the helm of that boat. (Although my dad was only 6-7 yo at the time 😇)

I wanted to offer some thoughts on the Gates climate memo that has been circulating this week. While I can't directly speak for others, I can say that my own response is one of dismay & deep frustration (and that this view is shared by many climate/Earth scientists). [1/n]

My advice to bands doing wedding gigs has been to pick songs from when the couple was 15-25 years old and also from when the parents were in that age group. Glad to see science backing me up on that.
Global study led by the University of Jyväskylä shows why the songs from our teens leave a lasting mark on us. This pronounced pattern, known as the “reminiscence bump”, reflects our tendency to form the strongest emotional ties to music from our teenage years.🎵 r.jyu.fi/ErD

Research from the University of Jyväskylä shows teenage songs leave a lasting mark, yet men and women experience their musical reminiscence differently across the lifespan.
