So my friend’s 3rd grade niece needed help with her homework tonight. Linguistics folks, how would you sort these words into the 3 categories at the top? What if I tell you the “correct” answer has 2 words in the left column, 4 in the middle, 4 in the last?

Weekends like this, l'm really glad my mom lives 15 minutes away in a neighborhood that never loses power. (I'm in KC, in the middle of the worst of it)
A weather forecast map showing projected snow totals over the next three days. Kansas City is in the dark purple with 12-18", two lighter purple bands from 5-12" stretch from western Kansas to Washington DC, and teal bands for 1-5" stretch from the Rockies to NYC and parts of New England.
