Let's take a moment to celebrate the incredible @cityofsanctuaryuk.bsky.social movement.
While a hateful minority spend their time whipping up division, this network of thousands dedicate themselves to welcome and kindness.
These are the people who represent the UK that we're proud to be part of.

We've signed an open letter to the Home Secretary, with over 100 refugee, migrant, and racial equality orgs urgently calling for a meeting.

We're urging the govt to meaningfully engage with migrant communities & organisations that represent them.

Yet more harrowing evidence coming to light about how the last Government let appalling conditions to develop in its detention centres.
It must be a warning to current leaders to listen when we speak out about the conditions people are forced to endure.

How about some Friday positivity for your timeline?

Look back at this wonderful display of skills from campaigners in Coventry, who took to the streets with one clear message:

People seeking asylum are ready to work. Let them.

This week has been heavy.

From the Government's white paper on immigration to the disturbing comments made by the Prime Minister, it's been a week of hostility.

But in the face of such hostility, we are finding moment of hope and happiness.

Let's be very clear who is responsible for this disgraceful hotel bill.
The last Government created an asylum backlog and forced people to live in appalling conditions for years on end.
It chose cruelty over taxpayers' money - then scapegoated sanctuary seekers for its failures.
Mock 'invoice' labelled "the cost of cruelty" which sets out a total cost of £15.3bn for families trapped in squalid hotel rooms, huge profits for private companies, refugees scapegoated and demonised, and an enormous asylum backlog.
