“Have Yourself A Merriam Little Christmas”

Merriam, a career-oriented lexicographer from the city, returns to her small town for the holidays and meets Webster, a ruggedly handsome librarian, who shows her the true DEFINITION of Christmas.

Uh, so does this mean @bookninja.bsky.social has the power to end things? Unrelated, you should follow him as he is a great person, very smart, and not at all a lunatic who may try to end me.

Glad to find @repmcgovern.bsky.social and @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social here. An unfollow over there, and I keep advancing who I follow here. Thank you from a Canadian.

WIRED led the way in reporting on Elon Musk's efforts to dismantle the US government. My colleagues and I spoke to 100s of employees at dozens of agencies to understand what happened.

This is the definitive story of DOGE as told by those who experienced it

Reading about some idiot yapping away on a stage makes me feel like taking some Tylenol.

And this is Batman's Aff His Nut by Robert Florence, which, in my opinion, is easily the greatest Scottish poem ever written about Batman...

After doing "my own research" I have decided to fix my car, wire my house, fly a plane, treat my heart issues, and broadly just do it all. Wait? That sounds stupid? See. Easy. Trust the scientists, doctors, and experts. Don't be a moron.

I suppose that any conference organized to be held in Washington DC should now cancel its event because of the emergency. Not that the city of Washington is to blame, but it would help make a massive statement about just how stupid what's happening is. Move to other cities.

So a guy pours gas all over his home, gets a lighter, buys fuel, loads it up, sparks it up, house burns. He then restricts firefighters from helping. Fires the chief blaming them for the embers and ashes. Is that about right?

Can anyone suggest a news source that is reputable, global, and skips over anything to do with the USA? Asking for about 30m Canadians.

Sharing to see if my writer gooder friends have input.
Should you refer to an awards show in the singular or the plural? i.e. The Tony Awards are this weekend, or is this weekend? I definitely lean towards plural, but I'm only usually right about these sorts of things.

As a Canadian I have to say it’s kinda surreal to log onto Bluesky and regularly be greeted by a wall of horrifying new updates from American users about their country’s descent into fascism

Monday is election day in Canada. I remember hearing @mark-carney.bsky.social on @cbcnews-rss.bsky.social when he was bank governor. Poised, prepared, professional; a clear communicator. I voted early after reading his party platform. Nothing from the cons for early voters. Please, think, then vote.

Early voting in Canada is open. As an informed voter who reads platforms from parties it's easy to immediately discount the Cons. Why? They can't be bothered respecting early voters by sharing any substance. They didn't have my vote anyway, but come on...

Conservatives to release full platform on Tuesday
Pierre Poilievre’s party will be the last to release its full election platform, and it’s expected a day after advance polls close

A special bit of stupid right now from some in Canada who don't believe polls. Attend a rally packed with faithful, then question poll numbers. Like going to a concert with fans. In context it seems everyone knows the singer, but step back. Polls may be off a bit, but this is a close election.

A note to remind all of us the orange shitheel is a bag of lies wrapped in deceit and wearing treacherous intent. That's all. You know who I mean.

Does Trump know April Fools’ Day was a short stint for harmless pranks, not a month long personal challenge to live up to in order to claim the title?

This actually makes MORE sense than why he says he is doing it. What the hell?!

I am a 50ish white male voter Pierre is trying to appeal to with #tfsa and #capitalgains cuts in Canada. PP, I am voting @mark-carney.bsky.social and the #Liberal line.

Why?

Proven leadership, world respect, an ability to keep #CanadaStrong. He isn't trying to buy my vote; he's securing my nation.

In the land of free dumb for a few more hours. Then home (trip was planned 6+ months ago). Just laughed loud enough poolside that I now am explaining who Ian H is. Once done the locals empathized on shared views of dumbass "leadership" here.

Hey #Canada, poiLIEvre is proposing an income tax cut he says would save the average worker $900 per year. For less than $3 per day you can help sell out Canada to Donald. A price has been put on our nation, and it's less than a double double and a donut. #ElbowsUp

In Vegas on what will be one of my last trips to the USA under their current administration. We declined some vacations and other events down here. Had we not booked back in October we wouldn't be here now. Met a LOT of Americans who are wishing for change here, some great people. For now, #elbowsUp
