Despite including half of the dose of repetitive task practice, the combination therapy was similarly effective in improving HRQoL as repetitive task practice alone.

In this clinical trial, authors examined the effects of upper extremity repetitive task practice with or without forced-rate aerobic exercise. Both groups improved in multiple domains of The Stroke Impact Scale & the participation domain of the PROMIS-29. 🧠🔄 🧠📈

Ever tried to feel a vibration while concentrating on a tricky listening task? Our latest publication suggests that the auditory challenge makes it harder and noisier to notice and tell apart the tactile signals. Open access until Nov 18: authors.elsevier.com/c/1ls35brwfQ...

@aaronlwong.bsky.social @laurelbuxbaum.bsky.social & @sthibault.bsky.social found that incongruence between tool & hand motions may exacerbate competition between motions of the hand & tool. Resolving this competition is challenging for people with #LimbApraxia.

BDNF has been targeted as a potential biomarker for stroke recovery, & authors examined the effects of cardiovascular exercise on BDNF early after #stroke. They found cardiovascular exercise didn't induce significant chronic or acute changes in serum BDNF. 🧠🔄 🧠📈

Authors found higher trial-by-trial variation in smoothness in a reaching task after #stroke was related to worse clinical assessment scores, worse 90-day outcomes, & more corticospinal tract injury, providing insight into post-stroke sensorimotor control. 🧠🔄 🧪

Dual task conditions are often used in studies for greater insight into functional performance. Authors found that dual-task effects in people with chronic stroke are influenced by an interaction between the type & complexity of mobility & cognitive tasks. 🧠🔄 🧪

Identifying aspects of a #neurorehabilitation treatment that drive recovery is tough. Authors revisited prior data from a study in a spinal cord injury model to see if the forces experienced in a treatment are more relevant to gait recovery than treatment type.
