Ken playing with his Godzilla toys is so wonderfully spooky to me in ways I can’t fully articulate. The Tsuburaya golden age already a nostalgic memory. Godzilla a phantom of an old trauma now conjured up as a noble imaginary friend to do battle with a new environmental cultural fear.

You can see Skar King trying to order Shimo to ice Kong, but Godzilla tells her she’s free and doesn’t have to listen to him anymore. For the first time in eons, Shimo gets to make a choice all by herself…and she chose to wreck her abuser. It’s so satisfying. 💕
