Holy crap. The DOJ is arguing that the President can unilaterally deport anyone he wants without ANY statutory authority, just on his inherent authority as President over national security.

That is a terrifying claim to make and not one that has ever been recognized before in US history.

Being a DoJ lawyer in this administration admitted to practice law in a blue state is rolling the dice with one's law career right now. Smart move to resign. (Should be risky everywhere but we know that's just not the case right now.)

I think we're going to get some interesting case law addressing the extent of state authority to enforce federal law against feds when POTUS refuses to do so. The remedy for this should of course be impeachment and removal of POTUS (and then VPOTUS when he follows suit) but where Congress refuses...
