It is a thought proviking idea, using methane-consuming microbes to combat methane release at the source location (eg waste water, landfill, coal mines). What could be demonstrated already in this respect?

The Dutch offshore wind programme is in trouble. While 4.5 GW is in operation and another 1.5 GW under construction, the plan was to rapidly build out capacity to 21 GW by 2032. That is now out of reach.
My thoughts on how this happened, and what to do about it!

The centers of Hurricanes #Humberto and #Imelda are now just 480 miles apart, and they share a larger envelope of circulation. What a spectacular example of binary vortex interaction!

Busy days around what might become to be known as the 2025 Sudden Stratospheric Warming: Loads of media interest, and thanks to the journalists who take their time to talk to me before writing their story. Happy to take some of mine in turn. theconversation.com/air-temperat...
Visualisation of the southern hemisphere with the south pole on top, and above the pole the cold polar vortex being pushed to the side by a patch of warming over the southern ocean.

This year, the ozone hole presented an early development, reaching a larger-than-average area mid-September. On #WorldOzoneDay, #CopernicusAtmosphere continues to provide tools for everyone to monitor the health of our planet.

In 1985, the Vienna Convention set the stage for fixing the ozone hole.

It showed the power of countries coming together around science. A model we still need today.

Current growth in worldwide fossil fuel use is reduced by investments in wind and EV globally. The increasee in atmospheric CO2 is less than in an expanding world economy without ‘green’ investments. The pressure on the natural environment is less well mitigated, so green is subjective word indeed.
atmsciences.bsky.social
Note: Global greenhouse gas emission monitoring is not dependent on one state (eg US) or one actor not providing new data (eg EPA). The global carbon budget can be monitored using top-down inversions providing observation-based country emission estimates essd.copernicus.org/articles/17/...
