This one threw me for a loop. I spent much of it being frustrated, and then was DEVASTATED by the ending (I know you'll know what I mean.) 💔

The takeaway? Maybe we all need to read the pivotal scenes of our work out loud, to make sure the actions and reactions really ring true.

Consequently, I find myself rethinking my own "third rail" (as the #StoryGenius method would call it) and striving to make it an authentic and believable motivating factor.

As I listen to the narrator build the story, I keep finding myself thinking "THAT'S what trips the MC up? THAT'S their reaction? THAT'S the thing that's going to make them pivot? Nope. No way...."

There's something about the experience of having the story spoken aloud that makes some beats shine bright...and others fall a little flat. As in, they just seem not that believable. Even with spoken emphasis that aims to convince a listener to buy in to the plot twist

She looks like a sad Bridgerton sister on the cover. I have a copy tho and plan to dig in. :)
