It's kind of bonkers that all the synonyms for "contraption" or "item" are so comical. Lemme just go substitute "thingamabob" or "doohickey" into my piece for a global brand's website. I'm sure they won't mind 😆 #amwriting

Went on a college tour recently with my kid. Collected brilliantly funny stickers like this.

Sometimes? I just marvel at the thesaurus? And how one simple word can have so many possible synonyms or related meanings? Like, how does language even? #writerlife #authorlife #writingcommunity

So, yeah. That's me. PS. If you come to my house for a strong cappuccino, we can look through my collection of vintage J.Crew catalogs together. I also have a nearly complete archive of Sassy back issues, plus numerous issues of YM and Jump.

Again, nice to meet you all :)

I also write fiction. My first project: A coming of age story set on Manhattan's Upper East Side in the 1980s. My current WIP: A deep dive into the messiness of marriage, midlife and motherhood. Some of my absolute favorite books are pictured here, and writers, SceneWriting is the best. GET A COPY:

I still write for mags & websites. Usually about wellness trends, but also about motherhood and women's health.

After Sassy, I edited at and wrote for many teen, women's, parenting and general lifestyle magazines. I loved them all, but the teen mags will always hold a special place in my heart—and, IMHO, pop culture.

I started my career in magazines, first an an intern, then as an editor and finally as a freelance writer. My ever first published piece: A movie review for a film called
'The Summer House,' I wrote when I was an intern at Sassy magazine. Particularly proud of my early usage of "demure."
