PLANET OF EXILE (1966)
I don't like any of these covers, they don't really represent the book. Anyway, it's short and has a lot of that LeGuin signature - vividly described landscapes and clashing/merging cultures. (1/3)
This will be the master thread for my Ursula K. Le Guin marathon with links to review threads. I've read ROCANNON'S WORLD (1/21) before migrating to bsky, so lacking that one. Also quick retrospectives.
(2/21) It's the only Le Guin book where I can't remember the main character's name
For the last two weeks I've been slowly making my way through the Queen's Blade anime, but now I've discovered that I can read all the novels instead. Two original series translated in English and then the reboot novel I can read in Japanese

Stuck in a hospital this week and not only does this place not hace an in-house library, this is now my third day of people being unable to get books for me. I can only watch so much on my phone before it needs charging. Miserable existence

I'm back on the Le Guin rant to share my rankings of her books. You can see my general thoughts in the quoted thread! Let's see some numbers! (1/9)
The time has come to talk about Ursula Le Guin for the last time, an overview thread! I don't know if I'll be doing this for my future big marathons, so it might be the last time I vomit a wall of text over the book feed for a while. So! Without further ado! (1/10)

So here's my art log for the past two months and my top picks. Watched a lot of peak movies so far, it was hard to choose honestly

Snipers don't make their own rifles, knights didn't forge their own armor and so on.
No, they're just a bit louder than usual.

I'm going to start a new thread for SOLO LEVELING because it's been too long. Also using webtoon covers, because the novel just has the same cover with a different number.
Last I stopped when Jinwoo has just entered the Subway Dungeon and burst a wolf's head off with a punch. We're back

LAVINIA (2008, Ursula K. Le Guin) review!
Welp, it is done. 22 books and 40 years later, we've reached the end of the Le Guin marathon. I wanted it to end with a good novel...
And it did :D
I liked this book. It reminded me of the 70s Le Guin, which imo was her peak. Refreshing (1/7)
Here it is! The final novel published by Ursula Le Guin. LAVINIA (2008)! Sounds like it's a retelling of the Aeneid but from a woman's perspective, the titular Lavinia. I've never read the Aeneid, so I'm as blind as a bat going into this. Let's dive right in

A short detour from my usual reading, this is a rec from a friend. I've never read anything by Fujimoto yet, this is my first, and I'm going in blind.
This thread will have my live reactions to GOODBYE, ERI. I'm reading in Japanese, click on alt text for my translated dialogue.
I liked it. The editing and cinematography got a bit dizzying at times, it's a little much, but the movie itself is fascinating. Literally watching a train wreck in slow motion, but with a cast of all brilliant actors. It's about what I expected going in, yeah. Nice film
#nowwatching THE BIG SHORT (2015, dir. Adam McKay)
I always wanted to watch it, but never did. First time!

Some underrated anime films
JOSEE, THE TIGER AND THE FISH is one of my all time favorite movies, peak romance
MAJOKKO SHIMAI YOYO TO NENE is so much fun, it's a visual spectacle and a fun adventure
POMPO THE CINEPHILE is about dreams, movie-making and it'll make your eyes smile
POWERS (2007, Ursula K. Le Guin) review! Also a general overview of the Western Shore trilogy!
I'm not going to beat around the bush. This entire series bored me to death. I'm struggling with hypersomnia, too, and that made me doze off frequently while reading them (1/7)
New week, new book. Starting POWERS (2007), the final part of the Western Shore trilogy. Success rate for this series has been 50/50 so far, let's hope it ends with a bang. It's quite a bit longer, too, among the longest Le Guin novels. Let's dive in, spoilers ahead

I'm tempted to re-read Rocannon's World after finishing Le Guin's books, because I barely remember it. Just to see how I feel about it after reading the rest of her library. I'll think about it

But just fyi, I'm talking "stoic tall/energetic small" couple.

VOICES (2006, Ursula K. Le Guin) review!
It was better than Gifts, though I'd say still pretty middle of the road as far as Le Guin novels go. It may be because I've been reading on short bursts because of work, or could be indicative of Western Shore in general. Who am I to tell? (1/5)
Last book was kind of all over the place, but maybe this time it's more focused. Starting VOICES, second part of the Western Shore trilogy. I see that each book has different characters and settings with some cameos, I think. So, brand new story! Beware of spoilers as usual
