But more importantly, here are the books I loved!
The Other Wind is a perfect and satisfying conclusion to Earthsea
Malafrena is the most character driven book here
Lavinia was a surprise hit
The Eye was the most fun to read
The Lathe of Heaven was the first book here I loved
(7/9)

Funnily enough, I think the standalones are some of Le Guin's best works. 1970s was her peak. While on the other lists the last place is something I genuinely disliked, Very Far Away and The Beginning Place were merely "meh" and left me lukewarm. Most of these I enjoyed greatly (5/9)

Western Shore series, I'll be honest, I didn't like it at all. But there are still ups and downs along the way. Voices, I think, made the most sense and was the easiest to read. I've already harped on the trilogy in a review, so I'll stop at that (4/9)

Earthsea is the people's favorite! The Other Wind might just be the best book from Ursula's library, I loved it through and through. You can see the trend that I much preferred Tenar-centered stories here. Wizard was okay, too, but I think it serves mostly as testing grounds (3/9)

I've ranked each series in the order of how much I liked them. Starting with Le Guin's mainstay, the Hain series. Each book here is a standalone story, so it was easy to rank. I think The Dispossessed was the most well-crafted one, while Forest had the most potential (2/9)

So here's my art log for the past two months and my top picks. Watched a lot of peak movies so far, it was hard to choose honestly

I'm going to start a new thread for SOLO LEVELING because it's been too long. Also using webtoon covers, because the novel just has the same cover with a different number.
Last I stopped when Jinwoo has just entered the Subway Dungeon and burst a wolf's head off with a punch. We're back

Here it is! The final novel published by Ursula Le Guin. LAVINIA (2008)! Sounds like it's a retelling of the Aeneid but from a woman's perspective, the titular Lavinia. I've never read the Aeneid, so I'm as blind as a bat going into this. Let's dive right in

A short detour from my usual reading, this is a rec from a friend. I've never read anything by Fujimoto yet, this is my first, and I'm going in blind.
This thread will have my live reactions to GOODBYE, ERI. I'm reading in Japanese, click on alt text for my translated dialogue.
#nowwatching THE BIG SHORT (2015, dir. Adam McKay)
I always wanted to watch it, but never did. First time!

Some underrated anime films
JOSEE, THE TIGER AND THE FISH is one of my all time favorite movies, peak romance
MAJOKKO SHIMAI YOYO TO NENE is so much fun, it's a visual spectacle and a fun adventure
POMPO THE CINEPHILE is about dreams, movie-making and it'll make your eyes smile
New week, new book. Starting POWERS (2007), the final part of the Western Shore trilogy. Success rate for this series has been 50/50 so far, let's hope it ends with a bang. It's quite a bit longer, too, among the longest Le Guin novels. Let's dive in, spoilers ahead

Last book was kind of all over the place, but maybe this time it's more focused. Starting VOICES, second part of the Western Shore trilogy. I see that each book has different characters and settings with some cameos, I think. So, brand new story! Beware of spoilers as usual

Come on, these are all combat powers. Obviously Le Guin wouldn't have her heroes actually fighting mighty villains and monsters, but this has to have gotten some inspo from the fantasy action anime going on at the time. 2004? I'm convinced

Starting GIFTS (2004), first book of the Western Shore trilogy. I'm now entering the last few books by Le Guin, the stuff that doesn't get brought up much. I'm going in so blind, I don't even know if this is fantasy or sci-fi. Let's dive right in

Fifteen years have passed since the previous book's events. Wonder how different Tehanu's character is going to be. Also, in general, good start, I'm loving the prose in this one
