“I’m looking toward 2026 with optimism…when the feckless Republicans can be returned to the minority, making it possible for a Democratic majority to strengthen its opposition; this includes investigating & prosecuting the lawlessness of Trump and his regime.”

Gen. Mark Hertling talks about the brave Americans who fought and died in Ukraine whose sacrifice Trump diminished yesterday. Gen. Hertling: “These Americans went out of profound respect for a nation that is fighting for its liberty and its territory.”

Since 1975, $79 trillion in wealth has been redistributed from the bottom 90% to the top 1% — a 1% that now owns more wealth than the bottom 93%.

We can respect innovation & entrepreneurship, but we cannot respect the extraordinary greed that now exists.

We need a wealth tax.

How we beat back the corporate takeover of America:

1. Break up corporate monopolies
2. Continue building union power
3. End Citizens United and get big money out of politics

Let’s keep working to unrig the system.

Also worth noting that Stephen Miller's deranged, racist hatred of any/all solicitude toward the "undeveloped world" again reveals that his deeper radical goal is to destroy the entire human rights/immigration law that the US has admirably (if unevenly) built up since the postwar era:
Compare and contrast this deeply sick Stephen Miller tweet (left) with the rhetoric that was used on people like his ancestors when they immigrated to the United States (right):

America's Sleeping Giant roared when police attacked civil rights marchers.

And after tens of thousands of young Americans were killed in Vietnam.

And when Nixon tried to cover up Watergate.

Today it roars once more — at the tyrant in the Oval Office.

While I truly dislike year end stories, I did one, and I’m breaking it into two parts. It’s important for us to remember where we were at the beginning of the year, the damage thats been done, but ultimately how we are on a better trajectory and should take hope.

Max Boot's analysis is correct, and essential.
Don’t mistake progress in stopping a U.S. sellout of Ukraine with progress in ending the war. The conflict will end only when Putin is convinced that he can’t achieve his military objectives. Until that point is reached, peace negotiations aren’t going anywhere. wapo.st/3N5e24y

What a disgrace. Volodymyr Zelensky is a heroic defender of democracy. The Trump regime is a poisonous blight on our nation’s history.
Zelensky lands in Miami. Not a single US official is on hand to greet him. In the language of diplomacy this send an unequivocal message of coldness and hostility. Compare it with the lavish pomp and red carpet shown to Putin when he landed in Alaska a few weeks ago.

Millions of Americans remain at jobs they hate for one reason: the health insurance they receive. That’s absurd.

Universal health care will give Americans the freedom to choose the work they want without worrying about health care coverage.

Another reason for Medicare for All.

It’s obvious that the Republicans and particularly Mitch McConnell voted to acquit Trump. That was the reality handed to the next administration. The lesson is future Dem leadership needs to take criminal accountability seriously—and not fear blowback.
Joe Biden’s fatal flaw was relying on the reluctant institutionalist Merrick Garland to prosecute the case of insurrectionist Donald J Trump. Had Garland done his job, Trump would have been banned from office and America and the world would not be in this predicament.

If Ukraine ceases firing, Ukraine will cease to exist.

If Russia ceases firing. the war will cease to exist.

They want us to turn on each other so we don't look up and see where all the wealth and power have gone.

Poverty is a policy choice. Concentrated wealth is a policy choice. Inequality is a policy choice. None of it is natural or inevitable.

We have the power to build a system that serves the many, not the powerful few.

Democrats must remember this — and act on it.
