Trump vs The BBC.
Love or loathe the BBC, recent events have put the UK's journalistic sovereignty in peril.

Agree, the only things the Americans are better at is bragging that they are the best
Incorrect - it’s cruel, but John Oates lack of stature lends their set a Reeves & Mortimer-esque hilarity missing from the UK event.

Trump’s base is fracturing, and Reform UK should be worried.

Because when movements are built on outrage, conspiracy and fiction, the second they can’t deliver, the crowd turns.

And there are no refunds in cult politics.

WTF from Streeting: They’re not quite the changes we would like”

They’re acting illegally, destroying the American constitutional system, shutting down government agencies by fiat, crashing the stock market, and abandoning allies to Russian aggression.
This is utterly repellent language from Starmer’s government.

An extraordinary moment. America has publicly resigned its leadership of the free world
The United States just voted with Russia against peace in Ukraine.

Thought experiment for Labour…
With over 4yrs and a huge majority, why not stir it up? Pitch your tent defiantly on the liberal lawn, loudly reject the epic failures of Brexit and rightwing immigration ideology and see how many liberal votes you gain instead of chasing Reform into a toxic dead end?

James Dyson: Reeves' inheritance tax hike 'is killing the geese that lay golden eggs'
Dyson hit out at Chancellor Reeves, saying she will "kill off" British family businesses with a "vindictive" budget and tax hikes.

Explaining in Five Paragraphs the Scam Donald Trump Just Pulled on 150 Million American TikTok Users
Make no mistake, one of the most popular apps in the world was just down in the U.S. for 14 hours because Donald Trump ordered that it be taken down. Why? So he could be seen as a hero in “saving” it.

Hats off to @jessphillipsmp.bsky.social and sod off to Elon Musk. Here's a 🎶 parody of Leonard Cohen's "Bird on the Wire" about Musk's recent spate of diarrhoea tweets about the UK, called "Turd on a Wire" (with an attempted nod to the wonderful k.d. lang version ❤️).

Whilst I’m recommending books I’d also hugely recommend the badly named Dublin Trilogy (currently on about book 8 I think) by @caimhmc.bsky.social - you can get the first 4 books on Kindle for £4.99 and they are ace. I’ve read everything Caimh has written and they’re fantastic fun.

We don't defeat populists by calling out their lies. We tried that. Facts are complicated, and the audience for populism wants simplicity. It won't work.

We defeat populists by enacting bold political ideas that improve lives for the disenfranchised, and make the world seem less grotesquely unfair.

Ok so Trump won again, Musk is buying up democracy, media is overdosing on Farage and Tory sour grapes…
BUT
We kicked the Tories out, the right is split, Brexit hovers over the shredder, Trump and Musk will trip up over their monstrous egos and we moved to Bluesky.

There’s always hope.
Cheers all🎄🥂

Had a customer today say that they “hated socialism”. Try to avoid politics at work but it was really hard to stay silent, especially as he was a heavy user of the NHS
