The Society strongly opposes plans to consider the importation of #Bengalcats into Australia as pets. The risks posed to #nativewildlife are too high.

Australia’s #biosecurity and #conservation frameworks must be robust and precautionary #ProtectAussieWildlife

Our pre-print on EcoEvoRxiv 👉 ecoevorxiv.org/repository/v...

"Dingo abundance and density was estimated as 77 (64–94) individuals and 0.014 (0.012–0.017) dingoes/km²—lower than previously reported estimates—and varied significantly in response to aspects of the fire regime and distance from roads."

🌿 Big win for koalas! A heartfelt thank you to Penny Sharpe on the announcement of the Great Koala National Park—a landmark move for native wildlife, climate, and communities.

We thank the many people who've worked tirelessly to make the #GKNP a reality. 🐨🌳

#BogongMoths are a crucial spring food source for #MountainPygmypossums - declines in Moth numbers are an urgent threat to the possums’ survival.

Mountain Goats. I know of no other type of wildlife that can be photographed through a window at a distance of 2.5 kms and still be recognizable. #wildlife #mammals #Banff

Yesterday I co-presented a Meet the Scientist at the @nhm-london.bsky.social: we talked about the giant ground sloth Mylodon (or Neomylodon) skin the museum received from F. P. Moreno in 1899. Thanks to @neilfadams.bsky.social, we had the actual specimen. Turns out it's real big!

Every now and then you catch yourself realising that #MuseumLife is not normal life.
