Paris, 1842: Something is stalking Paris’ werewolves A string of gruesome murders spurs Bertrand Smith, a werewolf sex worker, to try and catch whomever is responsible for murdering multiple women in his neighborhood. When the killer develops a taste for werewolf flesh, Bertrand makes himself a target on purpose, nearly becoming another victim. A mysterious inspector calling himself Murad comes to his aid, and Bertrand reluctantly teams up with the vampire inspector to stop the killer. As the two work together, Bertrand discovers that monsters like Murad are being forced to work for the Church. As his feelings deepen for his vampire partner, Bertrand must choose: Resume his life and let Murad go, or join him as a ward of the Church.

I was going to wait to do a retrospective on the one year anniversary of my book, but I'm going to do it now. First, the good things-
I've sold about 60 copies total, and I do great at in person events. But in all that time, even with ARCs, I don't have a single review anywhere. (cont)

Having some fun with a genre flipped short story for a friendly group contest. I'm taking cahracters from Sword of the Voivode and placing them in a contemporary Romance.
“Where did you get those scars?” He asked, then clapped his hands over his mouth. “ohmygoshiamsosorry.” He made and agonized squeal that made me chuckle. “I. Should. Not. Have. Asked. That.” Well, my thirst trap failed, but he was definitely checking me out. I smoothed my shirt back out, my face serious. “A six fingered man gave me these scars.” I joked.

I had to fully re-write the first four or five chapters of Last Wolves of Paris, but I think it was worth it.
I bit back my own angry response. “First things first. If those responsible are snatching werewolves at night, then we can’t make ourselves available!” Everyone leaned away from me as my voice rose to a shout. “Bertrand is right,” an older man agreed with me, “something out there is killing us werewolves, and he or they can’t kill us if we aren’t there to kill.” “I’m not giving up,” I glanced around the room, hoping to lift spirits a little, “it’s clear the gendarmes can’t catch the killer on their own, so I’ll continue to investigate. In the meantime, let’s try to spread the word and keep as many werewolves as possible inside after dark. Understood?” Those gathered sullenly agreed, and we officially disbanded our doomed vigilante troupe.

Experimenting with Canva and I think I will do my own covers for my novellas, since it'll free up cash long term for other portions of the process. So far, the Last Wolves cover is going well. I'm hoping to tweak it a little more before a full reveal #WriteSky

How we sat so still for so long, I do not know. Stoically posing for our portrait, my heart ached with the fleeting nature of the moment. I wished I could sit there forever, taking in the dewy night air with Radu perched in my lap. There was something here I’d been missing for most of my life, and I hated how it might be gone with the morning sun. After what felt a lifetime, we got up and gave our spot so someone else could have their picture taken. Radu and I observed the brownies as they processed the photographs through a combination of chemicals and heat. “Isn’t it fascinating?” Radu breathed. He stood in awe of the images developing before our eyes. Belphobe spared no expense. Everyone received their photos on the spot, framed and protected by glass. “They smudge easily, so please leave the plate in the frame.” The brownie who gave us our photo cautioned. “Look at how dark I am!” I laughed, turning the photo this way and that as we made our way back inside. “I love the way the light catches in your curls. You look so distinguished.” Radu purred against my side, leaning in to observe the daguerreotype for himself. We spent the rest of our night getting drunk and dancing into the wee hours and fell asleep in one of Belphoebe’s anterior rooms.

I didn't sell a ton of zines this time, but I did sell five more copies of my book and did a little networking with @oddityprodigy.bsky.social at Pride Fest. Sword of the Voivode still sells best in person, and I will continue to advocate for trans people in literary spaces.

I haven't been super active b/c I'm taking a much more hands off approach to social media. Boycotts have hurt a lot of queer authors right at the start of Pride, and I'd like to remind people to do things that help self published writers like me (cont) #LGBTBooks

I did something I thought I'd never get to do today: I dropped off art for a gallery show!
I will have three pieces from an unfinished comic on display, and I'm hoping to read from Sword of the Voivode Friday, June 6th at the Chris White Gallery in Wilmington, DE at the First Friday show opening.

Inagural post so that this space isn't totally empty! Like many people, I have created this account to that I'm not lost in the social media shuffle. I released my debut novel; Sword of the Voivode, back in October.
