Growing up autistic is being conditioned thru trauma to color inside lines we can't see. Then in adulthood, you feel sorry for us that we still childishly color inside the lines you say we never even needed.

Many Autistic ppl have a strong association with inanimate objects (especially plushies)
Many of us, as well as Synesthetics, experience a neurological propensity for animism & perceive the objects around us as having an ineffable quality of life.
Some of us form lifelong bonds with objects.

It's a good thing I'm not a scientist in charge of naming animals. Instead of dogfish sharks and mako sharks, I'd name them things like "The heccin good bean" or "Charlie"

If your autistic friend gifts you a movie/game/book/whatever they love, understand that this is a sign of great respect in our culture and if you don't even give it a try they will take this as a grave insult and quietly hold a grudge about it for the rest of their life
