Can we get rid of life tenure for federal judges without an amendment: no, of course not.

But can we establish a bulwark against future corruption by rotating the justices out — using an annual sortition from the federal appeals bench to empanel a new high court every year? I believe we can.

Now seems like a good day to push my plan to fix Court: sortition — with all but the chief justice (whose role is set out in the Constitution) relegated to the appellate courts, and an expanded set of 12 seats filled by annual randomized selection from Senate-confirmed appellate judges.
