Still thinking about what Chimamdani Ngozi Adichie said at this weekend's National Book Festival. #Truth
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie on stage at the National Book Festival with a quote in white font to the side of her on the graphic: "The banning of books speaks to the power of books. You do not ban a thing that does not have power."

It's International Translation Day, also known as the feast of St Jerome, patron saint of translators!

Portrait of "St Jerome in his Study" (1480) by Domenico Ghirlandaio, showing the saint with his head resting on his left knuckles, elbow on his desk. Overprinted with the text "Be a translator, they said. It'll be fun, the said."

In honour of International Translation Day, please enjoy these shelves of my translation children!
Two columns of four blond wood bookshelves. The left column is full of English books two or three sets deep in each shelf, and the right column has the Japanese source books, three sets deep in each shelf. I have translated a lot of books bc I have no work-life balance.

Publication day! This was one of the hardest stories I’ve ever translated, both for the language and content. It’s also one of the most important stories I’ve translated. I hope as many people as possible will read it and reflect on the reality of war.
