2024 Overview 🧵:

In 2024, I published 42 books:

28 books written by me: 27 children's books, 1 adult book

14 translations: 6 into English, 7 into Spanish & 1 into both English + Spanish (my first translation from French)

I am still missing copies of a few titles, both written by me and translated by me.

A photo of most of the children's books written by me that were published this year around the world, including both new titles and translations of older titles. There are books in Changana, Sena, Macua, Urdu, Bulgarian, Italian, Finnish, Turkish, Spanish, German, Portuguese, and English, among others.

The one adult book by me published this year: A BEARD PARADOX, translated by Sandra Kingery (Rebel Satori Press), a collection of 100 erotic flashfiction stories originally written in Spanish.

Scam alert: there's an IngramSpark impersonator at ingramsparkbookpublishers dot com. Part of a wave of publishing/ghostwriting scams from Pakistan that hijack authors looking to self-publish--they often "borrow" well-known publisher names but this one also "borrows" the real IngramSpark's logo

It troubles me that I’m starting to feel the same way about Bluesky that I do about the UK. Like: it sounds great, and some of the people I know are great, but the leadership is making some weird choices and I’m a bit worried it may all be over in a couple of years.

bluesky decentralization in action:

- bluesky the corp bans a user
- user’s data is alive on their blacksky PDS, an indie server
- blacksky will deploy their own API server which will bring back the user to everyone else
- user keeps their data, identity, followers. nothing is lost

An author I translate wrote about how she cried her eyes out reading @roxanegay.bsky.social’s HUNGER and I happened to be at the Strand where I found a signed copy of Gay’s OPINIONS and sent it to my author and it made her day
