A2: The New Kid by Jerry Craft. Worth it because it called attention to a healthy, loving Black family adjusting through awkwardness of middle school. It's worth protecting b/c it was a mirror for Black kids and NOT a trauma-vampire story for our culture. #TLSkyChat

A4: As a director of school librarians, I didn't have a library-but I advocate via my consultant business & website. I write articles for journals. I contribute chapters to books focusing on censorship. I tell my banned story in speeches. I lead by example w/a 24/7 threat of being banned. #TLSkyChat

100%! I have questions about the teeth in some of these laws and whether or not they will hold up in court BUT I still think taking a stand matters A LOT - if for no other reason than it helps people on the front lines of these battles feel less alone. #TLSkyChat
