I just finished listening to the audiobook of “Remarkably Bright Creatures” and it was just wonderful. The octopus as major characters is a big plus, but the whole book was a joy

Breaking! Court rules for unions and academic associations in AAUP vs. Rubio, affirming that non-citizens have first amendment rights. This case was brought by
@knightcolumbia.org
This case -– perhaps the most important ever to fall within
the jurisdiction of this district court –- squarely presents the
issue whether non-citizens lawfully present here in United
States actually have the same free speech rights as the rest of
us. The Court answers this Constitutional question
unequivocally “yes, they do.” “No law” means “no law.”

This administration decided all VA and social security payments must now be handled by electronic banking.

The person who made that choice should be forced to go to every senior citizen’s house and get them signed up for and actually able to use e-banking services.

😡😡😡 so angry

Serious scholars have examined what happens when we change the number of H1-B visas issued.

Cities that get more H1-B immigrants subsequently see the wages of natives *rise* substantially.

Skilled immigrants bring new ideas, fill labor shortages and make us all more productive.

Is there another measure of food security that doesn’t rely on the federal government - a proxy we can use until the USDA survey returns?

Step 1: Cut funding for food stamps
Step 2: Stop measuring hunger
Step 3: There's no evidence cuts to food stamps led to a rise in hunger

Did not watch the Emmys, but: the Pitt is one of the best shows we’ve watched in years, Tramell Tillman was fabulous in Severance, and we started watching The Studio last night and were honestly in tears of laughter

One wild cub spells hope for jaguars.

Conservationists have confirmed the birth of a wild jaguar cub in Argentina’s Gran Chaco where the species was once locally extinct. Decades of habitat protection are helping the big cats' reintroduction to this dry forest region.
